A new stability-indicating high-performance liquid chromatographic method of analysis of capecitabine in pharmaceutical dosage form was developed and validated. The solvent system consisted of methanol: water (60:40% v/v). The retention time of capecitabine was 7.927 min at a flow rate of 1 ml/min on C-18 (Quails BDS, 250 × 4.6 mm, 5µ). Capecitabine was detected at 240 nm. The linear regression analysis data for the linearity plot showed good linear relationship with the correlation coefficient value, R2 = 0.9991 in the concentration range 4-50 µg/ml. The method was validated according to the ICH guidelines. The accuracy of the method was validated by recovery studies and was found to be significant and under specification limits, with Recovery 98.12-101.61%. The assay of capecitabine was determined in tablet dosage form. The method was also found to be robust. The drug was subjected to stress conditions of acidic, basic, oxidation, photolytic and thermal degradation, and considerable degradation was found in all stress conditions. Herbs have been used since antiquity for treatment and management of various disease conditions. Their ability to cure or prevent diseases is due to storehouses of various phytoconstituents like alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, terpenoids, steroids, tannins, phenols, etc. present in them. Pentacyclic triterpenoids have gained greater attention of researchers due to its wide array of pharmacological actions. Thus, a simple and precise HPTLC method has been developed for identification and quantification of one such ubiquitous pentacyclic triterpenoid- ursolic acid in the leaves of Alstonia scholaris. The optimized mobile phase Toluene: Ethylacetate (7:3v/v) gave a better resolution of bands of ursolic acid at 540 nm after derivatizing plate with ASR. The Rf value for ursolic acid was found to be 0.46. The amount of ursolic acid quantified in ethanol, and chloroform extracts of leaves of Alstonia scholaris were 2.34 and 2.38 %w/w, respectively. The aqueous and ethanol extract of Nigella sativa (N. sativa) seeds were evaluated for their genotoxicity using Ames test and cytotoxicity by MTT assay. Ames assay was conducted using strains of Salmonella typhimurium TA-100, whereas MTT assay was performed on human alveolar basal epithelial cells (A549) and human colon cancer cell line (HCT15). Zinc oxide-magnesium has been used in dentistry with limitations especially related to its high acidity and low biocompatibility. The objective of this study was to develop cement based on nano-hydroxyapatite (nHA), chitosan as more biocompatibility agents to increase zinc oxide-magnesium cito-compatibility. The formulations prepared were: 1. Complete cement (HCP) with nHA, zinc oxide-magnesium, and chitosan; 2. cement without nHA (CP); 3. Without chitosan (HP); 4. Without zinc oxide-magnesium (HC), and CPZn as control. All cement were compared for setting times, solubility, contact angle, pH, calcium ion release, shear strength, the thermogravimetry analysis, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, 3T3-L1 fibroblasts cell compatibility, and antimicrobial activity. The results showed that HCP cement had setting time (mean ± S.D) of 5.5 ± 0.18 min, (p≥0.05) and neutral pH values on 14 days, calcium release of 10 mgL-1, and solubility with a value of 2.15%.
