Oxidative stress and hyperglycemia are two major factors implicated in the development of renal damage. Roots of Raphanus sativus have been reported to possess both ant diabetic and antioxidant activities. So, the present study was aimed to investigate whether aqueous root extract of Raphanus sativus (ARRS) is effective in reversing the renal alterations and oxidative damage against streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetes in rats. Methods: Rats were divided into five groups of six animals each. Group I is normal control which receives distilled water (p.o). Remaining animals were injected with STZ (60 mg/kg; i.p) to induce diabetes. 3 days after injection, animals with blood glucose levels greater than 250 mg/dl were divided into 4 groups: Group II received distilled water, Group III received glibenclamide (GLB; 5 mg/kg) and group IV and V received 100 and 200 mg/kg of ARRS at oral route for 8 weeks. Background: Leukemia is the seventh common cancer in Iran, and AML is considered as the most common type. Malnutrition is common among patients with cancer. Vitamin C deficiency has a high prevalence among patients with cancer, which may influence a patient’s survival chance. This study was aimed to evaluate the effect of vitamin C supplementation on nutritional status and serum albumin in patients with acute myeloid leukemia referred to Shariati Hospital in Tehran. Methods: This study was recruited by a randomized selection of 50 patients with AML, including entrance criteria, into 2 groups including the supplement group and control group. The duration of the study was 1 month. Nutritional status was assessed by the PG-SGA questionnaire, body weight, serum albumin status, and 3 days of food record before and at the end of the study. Chromolaena odorata was extracted by ethanol/water. Centella asiatica was extracted by methanol. A cream containing C. odorata and C. asiatica extracts was formulated and evaluated for its physicochemical properties and stability. C. odorata and C. asiatica were extracted and their respective active compounds scutellarein tetramethyl ether and asiaticoside were determined as bioactive compounds using HPLC. Creams were prepared using 5% C. odorata and 1% C. asiatica extracts and tested for their appearance, pH, and viscosity. Stability was evaluated under accelerated conditions using six hot/cold cycles and after long-term storage at 30 °C/75% RH for 3 months. The content of scutellarein tetramethyl ether in C. odorata extract was 0.13 ± 0.02% w/w and the content of asiaticoside in the C. asiatica extract was 0.35 ± 0.04% w/w. Cryptolepis buchanani Roem. & Schult. (Family: Asclepiadaceae) commonly-known as Wax leaved climber, Kali Sariva in English and Sanskrit. It is broadly used in Ayurveda as a remedy of ailment. Though, its diverse medicinal aspects, no detail pharmacognostical study is available till date. The present study is to investigate the pharmacognostical characteristics of C. buchanani aerial part. The investigation was carried out in terms of macroscopical, microscopical, leaf constant, powder behavioral with chemical reagents and fluorescence analysis by using yardstick methods. Sensory and macroscopic studies found that leaves are lanceolate, thin, spirally arranged, dark green in colour, with an astringent taste and acute apex. A simple, accurate, precise method was developed for the simultaneous estimation of the Ertugliflozin and Metformin in Tablet dosage form. For the method development, Chromatogram was run through HSS C18 (100 × 2.1 mm, 1.7µ) column at a flow rate of 0.3 ml/min. and buffer used in this method was Ortho Phosphoric Acid buffer. The temperature was maintained at 30 °C. The optimized wavelength selected was 240 nm. The retention time of Ertugliflozin and Metformin was found to be 0.736 min and 1.286 min. % RSD of the Ertugliflozin and Metformin were and found to be 0.8 and 0.9 respectively. % Recovery was obtained as 100.98% and 99.81% for Ertugliflozin and Metformin, respectively. LOD, LOQ values obtained from regression equations of Ertugliflozin and Metformin were 0.02 µg/ml, 0.08 µg/ml and 1.04 µ/ml, 3016 µg/ml respectively.
