Glycine max is indigenous to India and is used extensively in the traditional system of medicine to treat diabetes, reduces coronary heart disease, lowers cholesterol level and other myriad ailments. Therefore, the objective of the study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of Glycine max leaves powder on type II diabetes mellitus subjects. The present study was conducted on type II diabetes mellitus subjects of the middle-income group which were selected from the main campus of Banasthali Vidyapith, Newai Rajasthan and divided into two groups, i.e., experimental (A) and control (B) groups (Age group: 40-60 years). Glycine max 10g leaves powder was incorporated in biscuits and administered to the experimental group daily for 60 days. Biochemical evaluations of blood sample of subjects were done. The modulatory effect of Opuntia elatior stem extract was studied in Swiss albino mice at dose 6 Gy of gamma radiation. Four groups were divided in the presence (experimental) or absence (control) of Opuntia extract 10 mg/kg body wt.) to observe hematological alterations. Four groups are Group I without any treatment as control, Group II treated with 10 mg/kg body weight dose of plant Opuntia elatior extract, Group III treated with Opuntia elatior extract (10 mg/kg body weight) and 6 Gy gamma irradiation dose, Group IV treated with 6 Gy gamma irradiation .These animals were scarified and their blood was collected by heart puncture from the syringe in the EDTA filled viles at days 1, 15 and 30 post-irradiations. There was no variation in RBC and WBC counts including hemoglobin content in the control group (without any treatment); but significantly decreased in 6 Gy gamma irradiation treated group IV, whereas a recovery pattern was recorded in experimental animals (Group II and Group III) and a normal value of hematological...

Background and Objectives: Acute upper respiratory tract infections are the most frequent acute illnesses worldwide. This study has been undertaken for determining the diagnostic importance of Human Rhinovirus and other associated DNA/RNA viruses including human Respiratory Syncytial virus; Human Metapneumovirus; Human parainfluenza virus 1-4; human coronavirus; Human B, C, and E Adenovirus; and Human Bocavirus in common cold disease. Further, to detect the role of some immunological parameters including complement three and rhinovirus Ag (RhV-Ag) in rhinovirus infection. Patients and methods: The samples of 84 individuals infected with common cold were collected and studied. Viral nucleic acids either DNA or RNA were extracted and amplified using real-time multiplex PCR. Results: The most common type causative agent was hRv which accounted for 56.1% followed by hRv+hRSV-hMpv, 12.19% and hRv+hAdv-hBov, 9.75% respectively. Also, the most rarely infection was hRSV-hMpv which found only in one case. On the other hand, complement three was used as a potent immuno-parameter to detect the level in a sample of 80 tested individuals infected with human...

Introduction: Mental disorders account for nearly 12% of the global burden of disease. They are expected to become the second most important cause of disability in the near future. Medical students remain under great academic pressure to pass internal and external exams which continuously keep them under pressure. It is also very important to know how students feel rather than to treat only those who visit clinicians. Undiagnosed mental disorders adversely affect physical wellbeing too. Objectives: The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the subjective presence of mental health disorder in undergraduate medical student. Materials and Methods: DSM -5 self-rated symptom measure tool was used to detect the presence of mental health domains. Presence of any symptom in level 1 was further assessed by measuring its severity in level 2. Results: Study detected 86% of students had felt disturbed mental health in the past two weeks. Males had a higher number of symptoms than females. Manic symptoms were most common followed by anxiety and depression. Mania and...

Picrorhiza kurroa Royle ex Benth, belongs to the family Scrophulariaceae has gained immense medicinal value in Ayurvedic as well as in modern medicines including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-pyretic, immunomodulatory, anticancer, hepato-protective, etc. The present study aimed to ascertain analgesic and antipyretic activities of rhizome extracts of Picrorhiza kurrooa in Wister rats. Methanolic extracts at 260 mg/kg as well as 520 mg/kg exhibited highly significant (P<0.01) analgesic and antipyretic activity by oral dose for analgesic and rectal dose for antipyretic effects. Whereas hydroalcoholic extract showed significant effects at 520 mg/kg but not as good as that of methanolic...
