Several techniques were applicable to increase the aqueous solubility’s of poorly water-soluble drugs. Hydrotropy technique is one of them. In the present study, the hydrotropic agent has been used as a Solubilizing agent to solubilize BCS Class-II drugs that is poorly water-soluble drugs. Hydrotropy is an increase in the solubility of a solute in water by adding an agent termed hydrotrope. Increasing the solubility of various drugs in water is a very important aspect of hydrotropy. Various formulations need some substances or drugs to solubilize in water. Also, it is very important to analyze the drug formulations. Hydrotropy can be incorporated with spectrophotometric and chromatographic analysis for accurate, rapid, easy and precise analysis. The hydrotropic agent did not interfere with spectrophotometric determination. Most of the investigations concluded that hydrotropy was the most efficient tool for solubility enhancement. Solubility enhancement over 100-fold was observed in some investigations. Hydrotropic agents possess high industrial demand. This review article also highlights the applications and future prospects with the employment of hydrotropes and hydrotropic...

Introduction: Phoenix Sylvestris (L.) Roxb also known as date palm or Indian sugar palm, belongs to the Arecaceae family. In our present study, we used the fruit part (epicarp, endocarp). The fruit is very delicious in taste worldwide. It’s flavonoid part is reported with quercetin but its quantification has not yet been reported. Aim: The study aimed to carried out the Quantitative estimation of quercetin from Phoenix sylvestris using a validated HPTLC method. Method: The chromatographic analysis was carried out with the solvent system toluene: ethyl acetate: formic acid (5:4:1, v/v/v) to confirm the presence of quercetin. The HPTLC method was validated by using aluminium-backed silica gel plates with the same solvent system. Quantitative estimation was done by AUC plot. Results: Total Flavonoid Content of the methanolic extract of Phoenix sylvestris is 0.79 mg QE/g. The HPTLC method was good, accurate and specific. The methanolic extract was found to possess 1.07mg/100g of quercetin. Conclusion: This study discussed the validated HPTLC method which is simple, accurate and sensitive tool for...

Rosmarinic acid, a key component of Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), holds significant promise as an adaptogen in herbal medicine, offering a natural remedy to counteract stress’s wide-ranging impacts on health. This abstract explores rosmarinic acid’s pharmacological activities, emphasizing its modulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, regulation of neurotransmitters, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, and enhancement of mitochondrial function. Integrating insights from traditional medicine like Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), alongside modern scientific validation, highlights Rosemary’s evolution from culinary herb to medicinal powerhouse. Structurally, rosmarinic acid’s stability, facilitated by its ester-bonded dual phenolic rings, supports its therapeutic efficacy. Experimental studies underscore its ability to reduce cortisol levels, bolster stress resilience, stabilize mood, and enhance cognitive function by influencing neurotransmitter systems. Moreover, its robust antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, validated across in vitro, animal models, and clinical trials, suggest potential applications in preventing oxidative stress and inflammation-linked diseases. By promoting mitochondrial biogenesis and activating the AMPK pathway, rosmarinic acid enhances cellular energy production, further fortifying resilience to stressors. In summary, rosmarinic acid emerges...

Hyperpigmentation is a skin complaint where black patches or spots appear on skin. It affects a large percentage of the human population. Cosmetics that naturally lighten the skin have been shown to be both safe and effective for treating hyperpigmentation. To achieve a lighter skin appearance, skin lightening goods are commercially accessible for cosmetic resolutions. They’re also utilised in the clinic to treat pigmentary disorders like melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Various stages of melanin content in the skin are affected by whitening agents. The finding demonstrates that numerous bioactive substances have anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties in addition to tyrosinase inhibition, melanosome transfer inhibition, and other mechanisms that affect the melanin production pathway. Many of them have been identified as good inhibitors of tyrosinase, a central enzyme in the process of melanogenesis. Others stop this enzyme from maturing or from transporting pigment granules (melanosomes) from melanocytes to keratinocytes. We present an overview of whitening products obtained from natural sources that may reduce skin pigmentation by interfering with pigmentary processes in...

Introduction: The goal of BTS (Blood Transfusion Service) is to provide safe and quality blood and blood products to needy patients. In developing and underdeveloped countries, there exists a gap between the demands and supply of blood products. Since 100% voluntary blood donation is not achieved, we rely on replacement donors also. Hence this study was attempted to assess the seroprevalence of TTI (transfusion-transmitted infection) in blood donors and to compare the seroreactivity rate between voluntary and replacement donors. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study was done on the blood donors over the period of 4 years from January 2020 to December 2023 in a tertiary care hospital. Donor samples were screened for the five mandatory TTIs, viz., HIV (human immunodeficiency virus), HBV (hepatitis B virus), HCV (hepatitis C virus), syphilis, and malaria. Results: A declining trend in HBV was evident from 2020 to 2023. Prevalence of syphilis was highest in 2022. No marked change noted with HIV and HCV. The TTI rate in non-remunerated voluntary blood donors (NRVBD)...
