Curcumin is used as a potent anti-inflammatory agent in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and its clinical pharmacokinetics requires a sensitive method for estimation of its plasma concentration. Hence the aim of the study was to develop a rapid, selective, and sensitive HPLC method coupled with UV detection for the determination of Curcumin in rat plasma. The process of elution was carried out on Phenomenex Luna C18 (250*4.6 mm id, 5 μm particle size, 130 Å) column using acetonitrile and 1 % formic acid mixture in the ratio of 70:30 % v/v as mobile phase delivered with a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. Detection was carried out using a UV detector at 420 nm. The method was found to be linear in the range of 100 to 3000 ng/ml with R2 close to one (0.9969). The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) of CUR was found to be 2.82 ng/mL and 8.5 ng/mL, respectively. The method was validated for accuracy, precision, linearity, LOD, LOQ, and robustness....

The work aimed to prepare super porous hydrogels (SPHs) of Amoxicillin trihydrate to release the drug in a sustained manner in the gastric environment and study the polymeric ratio and pore effect formers on the physicomechanical properties and drug release kinetics of the formulations. Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) studies were done to check the compatibility of the drug with the polymers. The super porous hydrogel formulations were prepared in two batches (A and B) using sodium chloride and sodium bicarbonate as pore formers, respectively. Scanning Electron Microscopy observed the structural morphology of hydrogel. The presence of a large number of pores with sizes ranging from 1 to 10 μm was revealed, confirming the formation of a super porous hydrogel. As dictated by in-vitro dissolution data, the increases in the polymer concentration of HPMC K4M progressively retards and prolongs the drug release; however, no significant change in the effect was observed among NaCl and NaHCO3 pore formers in the super porous hydrogel. The drug release data were fitted into different...

Standardization of herbal formulation is essential to assess the quality of drugs for its therapeutic efficacy. Pancha Haritha kadi Churna (PHC) is a traditional poly herbal formulation meant for digestion which consists of five ingredients having digestive property. It is used for the treatment of Constipation and Bloating. Churna’s will play an important role in gastro intestinal problems and they are having greater bioavailability because of smaller particle size. It consists of fine powder (sieve 100 size) of Ginger rhizomes, Fennel fruits, Myrobalan fruits, Senna leaflets and Pink Rock salt in equal proportions (1:1:1:1:1) are mixed well. PHC is formulated by standard procedures and evaluated by physical parameters, phytochemical analysis and HPTLC studies, the values are compared with that of marketed churna. Physical parameters were found to be within the standards, phytochemical analysis shows the presence of Alkaloids, Terpenoids, Steroids, Tannins, Saponins, Coumarins, Quinones, Flavones, Flavanones, Phenols and Carbohydrates whereas in HPTLC fingerprinting profile, seven peaks of PHC were matching with marketed...

In the synthesis of Nebivolol [a mixture of (1RS, 1′ RS)-1,1′-{(2RS, 2′ SR)-bis(6-fluoro 3, 4-dihydro-2H-1-benzopyran-2-yl)} -2,2′-iminodiethanol] having four chiral centers, one crucial isomeric impurity at 0.88 RRT was observed in HPLC related substance analysis in gradient HPLC method. This impurity was isolated from synthesized crude impurity substance by preparative HPLC with chiral normal phase and was elucidated as [(R)-1-[ (R)-6-Fluorochroman -2-yl]-2-({(R)-2- [(R)-6-Fluorochro man-2-yl] -2-hydroxyethyl} amino) ethanol] (R, R, R, R- Nebivolol) by means of chromatographic and spectral data. Structural elucidation carried out by spectral data was...

Antibiotic resistance emergence, as well as the Darwinism of up to the minute strains of ailment generating agents, is of grave concern to the global health community. Sustainable therapeutics of an ailment entails the amalgamation of contemporary pharmaceuticals or some potential prospective of novel drugs. Customarily employed medicative plants of Gopalganj community could be an enticing of drugs to fight this problem. This study is targeted at a reconnaissance of the antimicrobial properties of the plants that are customarily being used as traditional health implementation. The antimicrobial potential of five different plant extracts was screened against three pathogenic microorganisms, which were isolated from typical non-healing wounds of patients of Gopalganj district hospital. The microorganisms chosen to evaluate for antimicrobial activity were Proteus mirabilis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus aureus. The favorable activity was shown by the extracts of Tridex procumbens L. was found to highest with zone of Inhibitions reaching to 18 mm, 19 mm and 20 they were nearly around the zone of inhibitions of positive...
