A simple, rapid, precise, accurate, sensitive and time consuming reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) and spectrophotometric method for simultaneous estimation of atorvastatin and amlodipine in pharmaceutical dosage forms have been developed and validated. Drug was resolved on a C18 column (Phenomenex phenyl hexyl column, 250mm* 4.6mm i.d, 5um). Utilizing mobile phase of water with 0.4%v/v triethyl amine and acetonitrile with diluted orthophosphoric acid pH adjusted to 5.2 in a ratio of 52.5:47.5 of water and acetonitrile respectively. Mobile phase was delivered at the flow rate of 1.0ml/min. Ultraviolet detection was carried out at 229nm. Separation was completed within 7.75 minutes. Calibration curve was linear with correlation coefficient (r2)=0.999. Over a concentration range 5-25ug/ml, using diclofenac 10ug/ml as IS. Recovery was between 99.26, 100.2 percentage. In spectrophotometric method it involves the formation and solvation of simultaneous equation at 242nm for Atorvastatin and 256nmfor Amlodipine using Acetonitrile and Water (10:90) as mobile phase. The standard deviation was found to be less than 1% for the assay of tablet. The...

General phytochemical screening of Phyllanthus amarus (Euphorbiaceae) revealed the presence of Saponin, tannins, glycoside and alkaloids etc. The aim of this study is to identify and characterize the bioactive principle from the plant. It has wide folk medicinal uses. The isolation and characterization of Phytoconstituents was done from the methanolic extract by the gradient fractionation method. The structure of the isolated compound was established on the basis of physical, chemical test and spectroscopic evidences (IR, UV, 1HNMR, MS). A flavonol structure was isolated from the methanolic extract of the plant. The odorless, colorless compound which solubilizes in methanol having m.p. 186oC and Rf value 0.46 in mobile phase Methanol: Glacial Acetic Acid: Water (90: 5: 5) was identified by the various spectroscopical methods. So from this study it is concluded that isolated compound may be rutin which is responsible for various pharmacological activities of the...

Nature has always been stands as a golden mark to amplify the outstanding phenomenon of symbiosis. Ayurvedic remedies for diabetes are usually mixed formulations containing blood sugar lowering herbs in combinations with immunomodulator, detoxicants with the rationale behind such formulations being provided by modern research. Polyherbal formulations have plant-based pharmacological agents which may exert synergistic, potentiative, agonistic antagonistic actions by virtue of its diverse active principles within themselves. These pharmacological principles work together in a dynamic way to produce maximum therapeutic efficiency with minimum side effects. Medicinal plants existing even before human being made their appearance on the earth. The development procedures of herbal drugs for world-wide use has to been different form that of synthetic drugs. The raw materials for Ayurvedic medicines were mostly obtained from plant sources in the form of crude drugs such as dried herbal powders or their extracts or mixture of products or mixture of product. Apart from these systems there has been a rich heritage of Ethno-botanical usage of herbs by various colorful...

This study aimed to discover the antibacterial effect of Acmella oleraceae against dental caries bacteria and aware the populace about the importance of using phytomedicines. According to this study, the antibacterial effects of Acmella oleraceae was checked against the dental caries bacteria using well diffusion method. Phytochemical screening of Acmella oleracea checked with chloroform, ethanol, methanol and water and acetone extracts. Screening tests revealed that this plant is a big source of phytochemical compounds. The phytochemical analysis of Acmella oleracea is conducted using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC).Acetone solvent system of Acmella oleracea showed two spots with highest Rf value 0.922. Three compounds were obtained in the chloroform solvent system with highest Rf value of...

This article is giving emphasis on the decisive role of particle size of highly hydrophobic lubricant i.e. Magnesium Stearate, its concentration and lubrication time to establish the desired quality attributes of formulation containing highly soluble model drug Metformin Hydrochloride. Magnesium Stearate from two sources with different Particle size distribution (PSD) range was selected. It was observed that the Magnesium Stearate with a designed PSD is controlling the drug release profile of Metformin hydrochloride Tablets, which can replace the use of excess quantity of Magnesium Stearate or addition of a rate controlling polymer like hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose in the formulation...
