Objective: This study aimed to carry out a phytochemical, pharmacognostic, qualitative, and quantitative evaluation of the medicinal plant Psidium guajava L., also known as guava, a member of the Mytaceae family. Methods: The present study provides pharmacognostic, phytochemical, and quantitative details of Psidium guajava L. Results: Plant-dried stem powder material was subjected to continuous hot extraction Soxhlet using solvents pet-ether, acetone, and ethanol. Phytochemical standardization was undertaken to detect the presence of bioactive agents along with TLC. Different physical parameters, like ash values, extractive value, loss on drying, etc., were evaluated for the powdered drug. The extracts were obtained from the Soxhlet method and subjected to preliminary phytochemical evaluation. Conclusions: The results of this study can serve as a valuable source of information for identifying this plant for future investigation and...

Hemidesmus indicus (H. indicus), also known as Indian Sarsaparilla or Anantmul, is a plant with diuretic, demulcent, and diphoretic properties. It treats various illnesses, detoxifies the blood, and reduces Vata, Pitta, and Kaphadoshas. It has been shown in pre-clinical trials to reduce illnesses in everyday clinical practice. In order to effectively promote this herbal medicine, clinical trials and patient studies conducted in hospitals are necessary. The intent of this review is to update the numerous medicinal qualities of H. indicus and demonstrate its therapeutic potential, enabling it to be used as an alternative to contemporary or modern medicine to treat a variety of disorders. The taxonomy, pharmacological components, and unique medicinal qualities of H. indicus are all outlined in this paper. It showed a proven effective and beneficial on the long-standing illness, therefore the need of the multicentre clinical trials is needed on the herbal medicine to be used as a complementary approach in...

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease associated with chronic inflammation of the joints. If it is untreated then it leads to destruction of joints, erosion of cartilage and bone and eventually leads to loss of physical function. Since, RA is not complete curable disease, the treatment goals are to reduce the pain and stop/slow further damage. With advancement in the field of molecular biology, a better understanding of disease mechanisms is available which can help in the designing of more effective treatments. Old treatment modes have been optimized and new ones have been produced. Nowadays, different classes of drugs with different mechanism of action are available to control the inflammation and to achieve remission. The aim of this review is to discuss previous and present treatment options for treating RA and its...

The present study was conducted with an objective to evaluate the in-vitro antioxidant and hepatoprotective activity of three different medicinal plants. Due to the adverse effects of therapeutic agent with better hepatoprotective activity in modern medicine several plants have been screened for the aforesaid activity during last few decades detailed literature survey revealed that leaves of Aegles marmelos, Lawsonia innermis and Murraya koenigii plants were traditionally used for their liver protective activity. When healthcare providers refer to liver disease, they’re usually referring to chronic conditions that do progressive damage to your liver over time. Chronic liver diseases are not uncommon worldwide and are characterized by progressive evolution from steatosis to chronic hepatitis, fibrosis, cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. There is growing evidence that free radicals and reactive oxygen species play an important role in the progression of liver diseases and thus plants with free radical scavenging activity could play a crucial role in preventing the progression of liver disorders. The results of the present study demonstrate that, all 3 plants...
