The study investigates the anti-implantation and early abortifacient effects of Luffa acutangula fruit, traditionally claimed by tribals in the Pandharkawada region of Maharashtra, on female albino rats. To evaluate its efficacy, fertile male and female albino rats were paired, and the females were divided into 13 groups, including a control group receiving distilled water and 12 experimental groups administered varying doses (100, 200, 400 mg/kg body weight) of L. acutangula extracts for 1-7 days. On the 10th day of gestation, laparotomy was performed to assess implantation sites and corpora lutea counts. Phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of several bioactive compounds, including alkaloids, flavonoids, and steroids, while no toxicity symptoms were observed in the treated animals. Results indicated significant post-coital antifertility activity, with a reduction in implantation rates ranging from 12.61% to 72% across different extracts. Notably, the chloroform and ethyl acetate extracts yielded higher litter sizes compared to the control group. However, other reproductive metrics, such as litter body weight, total body length, gestation period, and sex ratios, did...

Hypertension is a ubiquitous and serious worldwide health concern, having a dramatic influence on individual health outcomes. In light of this rising worry, Azelnidipine, a third generation long-acting dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, has emerged as a prospective therapeutic treatment. A vast body of research has indicated that Azelnidipine produces a strong antihypertensive impact, especially in individuals diagnosed with essential hypertension, thus validating its therapeutic usefulness in controlling this prevalent illness. This thorough study strives to give an in-depth overview of the numerous analytical techniques applied for the measurement of Azelnidipine. It covers a variety of techniques, including spectroscopic UV analysis, as well as chromatographic methods such as reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC), high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC), and ultra-performance liquid chromatography (UPLC), either alone or in combination with other drugs. These methodologies together give useful insights into the reliable measurement of Azelnidipine in pharmaceutical formulations. These techniques are tested for accuracy, precision, and resilience according to ICH criteria. They are excellent for both bulk medication and tablet dose forms because...

A new method in this field called film-forming gels may offer an alternative to the common skin dosage forms such ointments, creams, gels, or patches. When applied as a liquid, the polymeric solution evaporates to create a nearly undetectable layer on the skin. Dermal medication delivery and transdermal drug delivery systems compared to traditional pharmaceutical dosage formulations, the approach can offer certain desirable performance, for eliminating first-pass metabolism in the stomach and liver, increasing medication bioavailability, lowering dosage frequency, and stabilizing drug delivery overview. The purpose of this review was to find alternatives to traditional forms that would decrease skin irritation, boost patient acceptability from a cosmetic standpoint, improve skin adhesion qualities, and enhance drug release. The unique rheological nature of polymeric gels makes them advantageous in terms of preparation simplicity. Application simplicity, adherence to the application surface, and broad drug delivery...

Background: Hepatic Encephalopathy (HE) is a condition that is generally seen in individuals suffering from liver cirrhosis. HE is described as a range of neuropsychiatric diseases in individuals with liver diseases. It is characterized by personality changes, intellectual impairment and a depressed consciousness. Toxic substances that are generally excluded from the body by the liver accumulate in the blood and ultimately reach the brain, causing HE. Incidence rate of HE is estimated by various authors at about 30-84% of cases with liver cirrhosis depending on the applied diagnostic methods and examined population. Ammonia is one of the major neurotoxins produced in HE. Various triggers of HE includes renal failure, GI bleeding, constipation, infection, alcohol consumption, etc. Typically, bacteria within the gastrointestinal tract generate ammonia, which is then processed and eliminated by the liver through metabolism. But in HE there is either a drop in the number of the performing hepatocytes, portosystemic shunting or both, resulting in dropped ammonia clearance and hyperammonaemia. Once ammonia crosses BBB, it has multiple neurotoxic...
