Aim: Isniazid is unstable in aqueous medium. The aim is to improve the aqueous stability of isoniazid by microencapsulation method. Methods: Isoniazid microcapsules were prepared by temperature change method. Ethyl cellulose used as coating material which forms a layer on pure drug. Ethyl cellulose was insoluble in cold cyclohexane when temperature rise about 70-750C it become soluble in cyclohexane. Result: Isoniazid was reported unstable in aqueous medium and their high acetylation occurs in liver. Microcapsules were prepared by temperature change method. The average particle size of isoniazid microcapsules was found to be 57µm and angle of repose was 23.560, flow rate 0.85gm/sec. Isoniazid in pure form released 90% about in 50 minutes. After microencapsulation T90% was increased from 50 minutes to about 4 hours. Conclusion: After microencapsulation improved the physical properties like bulk density, particle size, and flow characteristics. Isoniazid microcapsules also show prolonged the release by following first order kinetics and enhanced the stability in aqueous medium....

Polycarpaea corymbosa has been used traditionally as medicine for the treatment of various ailments. In the present investigation an attempt has been made to quantify phenol, flavonoid and steroid in methanol extract of aerial and root parts of P.corymbosa Lam. by HPTLC method. Different compositions of the mobile phase for HPTLC analysis were tested in order to obtain high resolution and reproducible peaks. The result of HPTLC analysis authenticates the presence of phenols, flavonoids and steroid with several peaks having different Rf values. Our results revealed that at least three types of phenols were seen in aerial methanolic extract and one in root extract. Similarly five types of flavonoids and three types of steroids were found in the Polycarpaea corymbosa whole plant methanolic extract. Phenol and flavonoid were found to have higher concentration in the methanolic extract when compared to steroids. Therefore, from the above results, methanolic extract of P.corymbosa can be used as therapeutic agents to treat various disorders caused by free radical and chemical substances due to...

The present paper deals with synthesis and characterization of some new chromium (III) Schiff base complexes using microwave irradiation technique as well as conventional heating. The S∩N donor benzothiazolines, 1-(2-furanyl) ethanone benzothiazoline (Bzt1N∩SH), 1-(2-thienyl) ethanone benzothiazoline (Bzt2N∩SH) and 1-(2-pyridyl) ethanone benzothiazoline (Bzt3N∩SH) were prepared by the condensation of ortho-aminothiophenol with respective ketones in ethanol. The chromium (III) complexes have been prepared by mixing CrCl3∙6H2O in 1:1 and 1:2 M ratios with benzothiazolines. The structure of the ligands and their transition metal complexes were confirmed by the elemental analysis, melting point and molecular weight determinations, IR, 1H NMR, electronic, EPR spectral studies. On the basis of these studies an octahedral environment around the chromium (III) ionhas been proposed. The in vitro antimicrobial and in vivo antifertility activities of Schiff base ligands and their respective chromium (III) complexes were performed on pathogenic bacterial and fungal strains and male albino rats respectively. The results indicated that the complexes showed higher activity than the parent...

The aim of the present work was to develop and validate a novel, rapid, sensitive, accurate and specific RP-HPLC assay with fluorescence detection for the quantification of amlodipine besylate in rat plasma to be applied to preclinical studies. Flourescein was used as internal standard (IS) and the detection was carried out by an online wavelength switching which enabled detection of amlodipine & flourescein in the same method. The plasma proteins were precipitated by a single step protein precipitation extraction procedure using methanol. Mean recovery of amlodipine besylate from rat plasma was more than 85.0 % for 25 – 5000 ng/ml concentrations. The assay exhibited good linear relationship with an r2 of 0.999. Lower limit of Quantification limit (LLOQ) was 1.84 µg/ml of amlodipine besylate and accuracy and precision were over the concentration range 25 – 5000 ng/ml. Thus, the bionanalytical method for quantification of amlodipine besylate is novel, since use of fluorescence detection & using flourescein as the internal standard has made the method with comparable sensitivity to LC-MS/MS...

The present study was designed to evaluate antidepressant effects of fruit extract of Elaeocarpus ganitrus(75% ethanol)on albino mice. Albino mice of either sex, weighing 25-30g were divided into seven groups and each group contains six animals. The animals were housed in polypropylene cages (38×23×10cm3) with not more than six animals per cage. Group I, II and III were administered orally with distilled water, fluoxetine and imipramine respectively. Group IV, V, VI and VII were administered orally with different doses (20, 40, 60 and 80 mg/kg body weight) of Elaeocarpus ganitrus fruit extract (EGFE). Antidepressant effect of EGFE assessed by forced swim test. The (EGFE) (20 and 40mg/kg) significantly decreased the immobility time and it also increased climbing and swimming time significantly. Duration of immobility of mice increased (246.00±1.73) at high dose (80mg/kg) as compared to vehicle (228.00±4.28). It is concluded that the EGFE exhibit antidepressant effect in tested animal model at low dose but at high dose it is...
