Camellia sinensis has been used since several decades owing to its numerous health benefits. The purpose of this study is to investigate the developments in new varieties of Camellia sinensis. This new variety of tea possesses striking, purple-colored leaves, and hence, it is more commonly referred to as purple tea. This study analyzes the detailed mechanism of color change. An over-expression of genes in C. sinensis leads to an increase in the proportion of its anthocyanin content which is responsible for its color change. The genes accountable are CsAN1 (R2R3-MYB transcription factor), CsGL3 and CsEGL3 (bHLH transcription factor) and CsTTG1 (WD repeat protein). This feature stimulated us to review purple tea. The review article discusses its history, taxonomy, geography, process of cultivation and collection with the appropriate harvesting seasons, macroscopic and microscopic characteristics, and its extraction processes. The constituents obtained from Camellia sinensis and the chemical structures of its phytoconstituents were also discussed. The therapeutic properties like anti-diabetic, anti-allergic, anti-pyretic, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant anti-aging and anti-parasitic associated with C. sinensis...

Changes in drug prescribing-pattern in different groups of population and age-related pathophysiological changes may result in altered response of drugs and need proper monitoring to avoid adverse consequences. Polypharmacy is very common in elderly which further increases risk for unwanted effects. Moreover, physicians should be more familiar with the common problems and diseases occurring amongst elderly population and the drugs safe for this age group. Present study has been done to know the pattern of diseases occurring amongst elderly and commonly prescribed drugs for this population. Study-design was cross-sectional and it included private medical practitioners at Lucknow. Patients above 60 years of age attending these physicians were interviewed personally using a questionnaire. Thus, this study describes pattern of medication consumption by elderly patients among community dwelling in urban and rural areas of Lucknow. Out of 112 subjects interviewed, 51.5% elderly were prescribed three or more medications. Overall consumption varied from 1 to 10 different medications per day. Out of all medications prescribed; antihypertensives ranked first followed by analgesics, sedative-hypnotics,...

The advancement of drug therapy has undoubtedly elevated patient care standards. However, it has also given rise to an increase in Drug-Related Problems (DRPs), which can significantly disrupt health outcomes. In an 18-month prospective observational study involving 2,000 patients, we meticulously assessed DRPs using the Hepler and Strand classification system. These DRPs encompassed a range of issues, including adverse drug reactions (ADRs), untreated medical indications, non-compliance with prescribed regimens, improper drug selection, and more. Our data collection adhered to a well-validated and pre-tested format. Among 2,000 patients, 106 (5.3%) experienced 117 DRPs, averaging 1.1 per patient. Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) accounted for 47.01% of cases, non-compliance 35.89%, and drug use without indication 11.32%. ADR incidence was 2.75%, primarily affecting the Gastrointestinal (GIT) system. Antibiotics were frequently associated with ADRs in various drug classes. Vigilant monitoring, robust reporting mechanisms, and patient education are pivotal strategies in the prevention of drug-related issues. Pharmacovigilance, the systematic monitoring and evaluation of drug safety and efficacy, plays a fundamental role in ensuring the delivery...

The creation of reliable bioanalytical LC-MS (liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy) methods is crucial for the discovery, development, and eventual marketing approval of new drugs. A brand-new medication called siponimod was developed to treat Multiple Sclerosis (MS). This medication is a sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) receptor modulator and is hypothesised to contribute to the reduction of MS-related inflammation of the central nervous system. Since the last several decades, the usage of ant sclerosis agents has grown dramatically, however there is currently no bio analytical approach available for quantifying siponimod in biological matrix investigations employing LC-MS/MS. To create a novel, quick, and accurate LC-MS/MS approach for simultaneously measuring siponimod in rat plasma utilising the liquid-liquid extraction method (LLE) and deuterated siponimod (SId6). Method: Chromatographic separation was performed in isocratic mode using acetonitrile and OPA buffer at a flow rate of 1 ml/min on a reverse phase Phenyl C18 (150 mm x 4.6 mm, 3.5 m) column. Utilising a positive-mode electrospray ion interface and multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) procedures, quantification was accomplished. Over the concentration...

The plant Opilia celtidifolia, often known as ironwood or Opilia, is indigenous to many parts of Africa. It has a long history of traditional use in African herbal medicine, and its purported therapeutic benefits have attracted interest. An overview of Opilia celtidifolia’s cultivation, the portions used, and the identification of its chemical components are given in this abstract. The savannahs, dry woods, and semi-arid regions of African nations, including Nigeria, Ghana, and Senegal, are the main habitats for Opilia celtidifolia. Information on its controlled cultivation for therapeutic or commercial purposes is still scarce, nevertheless. Various parts of Opilia celtidifolia, including the leaves, roots, stem bark, and seeds, have been traditionally employed for medicinal purposes. Each part serves specific therapeutic applications, such as the use of roots for wound healing and leaves for various conditions. Opilia celtidifolia contains a diverse array of chemical constituents, including alkaloids, flavonoids, polyphenols, and other bioactive compounds. Opilia celtidifolia is a plant with a rich history in African traditional medicine. It is believed to possess...
