Antibiotics can no longer be considered as effective methods to treat various diseases. The misuse of these medicines has increased the evolvement of a number of drug-resistant microorganisms which are termed as “Superbugs”. These are most prevalent in developing countries where the abuse of antibiotics is at the peak. Clostridium difficile, Streptococcus pneumoniae, MRSA (Staphylococcus aureus), ESBL (Escherichia coli) and NDM1 –E. coli were some of the top listed superbugs. Different kinds of these superbugs attack many countries; even the United States of America, which is under danger from 14 types of superbugs and has lost less than 14,000 individuals every year form C. difficile alone. An NDM-1 strain bacterium, most dangerous superbug, produces a protein that can able to kill the movement of carbapenem antibiotics, which are used to treat a broad range of infections in Hospitals and health care centers. These superbugs can affect an individual by cold, fever, non-healing factors, and lead to organ failures. International and National Organizations should take serious initiatives to curb this...

Background: Lumbar disc herniation is one of the commonest causes of low back pain. The magnetic resonance imaging is a gold standard non-invasive investigation for viewing lumbar anatomy in detail. Aim of the Study: To evaluate the effects of body mass index on the presence, extent and severity of lumbar disc bulging and herniation as well as to determine the relationship between clinical features and magnetic resonance imaging has proven lumbar disc bulging and herniation. Patients and Methods: A cross-sectional study conducted on 100 patients with lumbar disc bulging and herniation proved by MRI were included. Results: The correlation between body mass index and the total disc bulge/extrusion score was statistically significant. There was a significant association between neurological deficit and body mass index as well as between straight leg raising test, femoral stretch test, neurological deficit, and the waist to hip ratio. On the other hand, there was no significant association between clinical features and nerve root compression for patients with both normal body mass index as well...

Objective: A simple, accurate, precise method was developed for the simultaneous estimation of the Chlorzoxazone, Pantoprazole, and Diclofenac in solid dosage form. Method: Chromatogram was run through BDS C18 150 × 4.6 mm, 5 m. Mobile phase containing 0.01% KH2PO4 and Acetonitrile in the ratio of 52:48 v/v was pumped through column at a flow rate of 1.0 ml/min. The buffer used in this method was 0.01%. KH2PO4, Temperature was maintained at 30 °C. The optimized wavelength for Chlorzoxazone, Pantoprazole, and Diclofenac was 229.0 nm. Results: Retention time of Chlorzoxazone, Pantoprazole, and Diclofenac were found to be 2.229 min, 2.958 min, and 3.568 min. % RSD of system precision for Chlorzoxazone, Pantoprazole and Diclofenac were and found to be 0.9, 0.6 and 0.6, respectively. % RSD of method precision for Chlorzoxazone, Pantoprazole and Diclofenac were and found to be 0.6, 1.0 and 0.7 respectively. % recovery was obtained as 99.86%, 100.07% and 99.70% for Chlorzoxazone, Pantoprazole, and Diclofenac respectively. LOD values are obtained from regression equations of Chlorzoxazone, Pantoprazole...

To increase the solubility of poorly water-soluble drug simvastatin using hydrophilic carrier poloxamer 188 using solid dispersion techniques by microwave irradiation method. The microwave irradiation technique was used to prepare solid dispersions in minimum time interval in different drug carrier ratios, i.e. 1:2, 1:5, 1:8 and was subjected to microwave for different times, i.e. 3 min, 5 min, and 7 min. Solid dispersions were characterized for drug content, percentage yield, saturation solubility studies, and in-vitro dissolution studies. A 32 full factorial design was selected to study the influence of the individual and combined effect of independent variables drug carrier ratio (X1) and microwave time (X2) on the dependent variables percent dissolution efficiency (% DE) at 60 min and percent yield. In this design, two factors were evaluated, each at three levels, and experimental trials is performed at all nine possible combinations. The optimized batch obtained using design expert was having drug carrier ratio of 1:5.75 and microwave time of 5.68...

Pharmaceutical analysis is the application of principles of analytical chemistry to drug analysis. The analytical chemistry is the science of developing accurate, precise, and sensitive methods for determining the composition of materials in terms of elements or compounds which they contain. Quality means confirming specifications and standards, and it is never an accident; it is a result of intelligent efforts. Quality assurance influences the quality of the product and plays a central role in assuring the quality, safety, purity, and effectiveness of the drug products. Estimation of amoxicillin and carbocisteine in their combined dosage form were done. Official books also do not provide methods for simultaneous analysis. Most of the methods available for the analysis of active ingredients of such formulations are applicable only after prior separation, which makes it tedious and time-consuming and also a costly affair. In experimental work trials of various mobile phases, Analysis of laboratory mixture by proposed method carried out. The calibration curve was found to be linear in the concentration range of 5-25...
