The present study was conducted with the aim to prepare probiotics Lactobacillus acidophilus (L. acidophilus) granules which are stable at room temperature. Lactobacillus acidophilus 2285 probiotics was obtained from the N.C.I.M (National Collection of Industrial Microorganism), Pune. The formation of the semi-solid mass occurred after the further incubation at 34 °C from range (33 °C to 37 °C) in an incubator kept for the less than 24 hour time duration. This mass was homogenized and converted into granule formulation. The viability of the granule formulation was achieved with a maximum viable cell count after 24 hours of incubation in de Man, Rogosa, and Sharpe (M.R.S) agar media. Spray dried and tray dried powder of the probiotics is used for granulation, these drying methods served as a cheap alternative to the expensive freeze-drying procedure. The selected strain of L. acidophilus NCIM 2285 assessed for antioxidant activity. The antioxidant activity of L. acidophilus was demonstrated by in-vitro test using 2, 2–diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl free radical scavenging assay. The results showed that intact cells and...

In this study, GC-MS analysis shown that ethyl acetate fraction of Allium cepa (EAFAC) (band one) consists of 55 compounds which shown antileishmanial activity. (IC50 73.1 ± 2.1 ug/ml) is the inhibitory concentration which is observed for ethyl acetate fraction of Allium cepa (EAFAC) (band one). Leishmania major is the specie used for this leishmanicidal assay. In this bioassay, Amphotericin B (IC50 = 0.29 ± 0.05 ug/ml) and pentamidine (IC50 = 5.09 ± 0.09 ug/ml) were used as positive control drugs to compare the parasite inhibition with that ethyl acetate fraction of Allium cepa (EAFAC) (band one). This activity was perceived under incubation period 72 hours and incubation temperature 22°C. Methanol extract of Allium cepa (MEAC), Hexane fraction of Allium cepa (HFAC), Ether fraction of Allium cepa (EFAC), and Diethyl ether fraction of Allium cepa (DEFAC) and butanol fraction of Allium cepa (BFAC) exhibited no antileishmanial activities. In this research paper we represent 25 compounds out of 55 compounds of ethyl acetate fraction of Allium cepa (EAFAC) (band...

Differences in cost and similarities in the efficacy between ondansetron and granisetron have been reported in many clinical studies and prompted this study to determine whether such differences are important as Kenyatta National Hospital. Thirty-four adult cancer patients scheduled to start their consecutive three weekly cycles of cisplatin-based chemotherapy regimens, were recruited into a double-blind randomized crossover study to receive ondansetron 12 mg or granisetron 3 mg each combined with dexamethasone 8 mg as intravenous on the first day and continued on their respective oral combinations from day 2 to 4. The frequency of nausea and vomiting were recorded daily during 5 days of antiemetic treatment. Data were collected using a close ended questionnaire and statistical analysis was performed using STATA version 13 software. Statistical significance was checked using Fisher’s exact test and was considered when p value was less than 0.05. Female predominance was 70.6%, while dominant age was 50-70 years at 47.1% with a mean age of 53.5 (± 11.9) years and cervical cancer was leading cancer....

Phyllanthus amarus Schum and Thonn herb is in traditional medicine for more than 3000 years. It belongs to a family of Euphorbiaceae and commonly known by the name of carry me seed, stone breaker, gala of wind, etc. It is a branching annual herb of 30 – 60 cm height widely spread throughout tropics and sub-tropics as a weed. Phyllanthus amarus is gaining momentum for its hepatoprotective, anti-carcinogenic, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory and more activities as it contains different combinations of secondary metabolites, which render them medicinal properties. The major class of bioactive compounds like alkaloids, flavonoids, lignans, sterols, tannins, triterpenes and volatile oils has been isolated. Lignans like phyllanthin and hypophyllanthin, flavonoids like quercetin were isolated from the leaves of P. amarus. This review is an effort to represent the phytochemicals and their pharmacological properties which constantly addresses a challenge because of a large number of compounds present as a mixture in the extract with trace...

Donepezil hydrochloride is United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) approved drug marketed under the trade name “Aricept” used for the treatment of mild to moderate alzheimer disease. The aim of the current investigation was Kinetic and mechanistic study of donepezil hydrochloride by sodium-N-chloro-p-tolunesulfonamide or chloramine-T (CAT) in NaOH medium was studied at 308 K. the reaction follows first order dependence on [CAT]0, fractional order dependence on [substrate]0, and [OH–] ion concentration. Variation of ionic strength and addition of toluene sulfonamide have no significant effect on the rate. The reaction was studied at five different temperatures; however, the thermodynamic parameters have been assessed from the Arrhenius plots. The stoichiometry of the reaction has been established to be 1:1 and oxidation product 2-(1-benzylpiperdin-4-yl) methyl)-5-6-dimethoxy 3H-inden-1-ol was predicted by Chromatographic and Spectroscopic analysis. The observed results were supported by probable mechanism and the related rate law has been...
