World Health Organization (WHO) designated the COVID-19 or more commonly called Coronavirus disease, a “public health emergency of international concern” on January 30, 2020, and declared it a pandemic on March 11, 2020, which threatens human wellbeing around the world. With no proven pharmacological treatment, therapy (such as plasma, bacteriophage, virophage) drug approved by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) against COVID-19 and the frequent transmission of infection resulting in progression of infected person; made the situation more critical. The critical pandemic situation created by COVID-19 realized that nutrition becomes a priority to boost immune function as what we eat can have severe health impacts and medical consequences. The present assessment focused on enhancing awareness among people to maintain a healthy lifestyle through balanced food, nutrition, and eating habits, and AYUSH recommendations to overcome inevitably caused distress due to pandemic...

Nanocochleate is a novel lipid-based drug delivery system in which the liposomal vesicles are converted into nanocochleate by the addition of Calcium divalent cation. This technology involves encochleation of the drug for overcoming problems such as poor solubility, poor permeability, and poor oral bioavailability. This novel lipid-based formulation approach is applicable for the category of drugs like BCS class III drugs, BCS class IV drugs. Applications of this technology can also be extended to macromolecules as well as small molecule drugs that are lipophilic with poor oral bioavailability. It is appropriate for oral as well as systemic administration of biologically active molecules, including drugs, genes, proteins, peptides, and vaccine antigens. This article covers multiple aspects of Nanocochleate drug delivery system, such as its definition, composition, method of preparation, and mechanism of permeation. The article also elaborates on various advantages, disadvantages, and applications of Nanocochleate drug delivery system. The article highlights the potential of this novel system for oral as well as systemic delivery of chemical and biological drug...

The present study aimed to explore the primary metabolites present in leaf, fruit, and seed crude extracts of Syzygium cumini L by Gas chromatography – Mass spectrometry. The compounds in the leaf, seed, and fruit extracts resulted from the GC-MS analysis was relevant to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) library. The metabolite profiling of the extracts revealed the presence of carboxylic acid and fatty acid found to be common in leaf, fruit, and seed extracts. And metabolites 6-oxa-3-thiaoctanoic acid, bisoprolol, phenacetin, tropin, alizarin, gonodoic acid are present in seeds that are not found in leaves and fruit metabolite profile. In contrast, Tetra decanoic acid, Azelaic acid, Penicillamine and S (-)-Cathinone are found only in leaves. Leaf, fruit and seed extracts of Syzyzium cumini L contains various bioactive compounds and consequently has a variety of medicinal properties for the treatment of different diseases like thyroid cancer, heart diseases, kidney stones and rheumatoid arthritis. Some metabolites found to be active as antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancerous, antioxidant, anti-bacterial and antifungal...

Azadirachta Indica has always been known to be the bestowed with good health for many centuries in India. It has been found that the Neem is native to Asian countries. There are three major active components in A. indica, namely nimbin, nimbidin, and nimbiene. The compound nimbidin was isolated by chromatographic techniques. A. indica leaves extract was prepared, and the phytochemical analysis was conducted, and the phytochemical screening manifested the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, reducing sugar, phenol, saponins and cardiac glycoside in the neem extract. Then qualitative phytochemical analysis was conducted for flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, and phenol. Plant sources are considered the major active source of antioxidant molecules for a long time in the history of humankind. In the current study, the anti-bacterial properties of Neem have been tested against gram-positive bacteria, namely, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, and gram-negative bacteria, namely, Escherichia coli Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and proteus vulgaris. Chloramphenicol was used as a standard to analyze the effect of the nimbidin compound. The compounds obtained from plants...

Succinimide and its derivatives are important substitutes of many medicinal compounds in the pharmaceutical field. One of the essential objectives in heterocyclic and medicinal chemistry is the synthesis of molecules having importance as therapeutic agents. Heterocyclic compounds and their derivatives contain an imide ring that can easily cross biological membranes in-vivo. Mannich reactions are one of the fundamental methods of C-C bond forming reactions in organic synthesis and withstand a diversity of functional groups. In view of this, the Mannich base1-((2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl)phenyl)methyl)thiourea and a few of its transition metal complexes with Mn(II) and Co(II) have been synthesized. The newly synthesized ligand and its metal complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance and FT-IR, UV-Visible NMR, Mass spectral studies, and magnetic measure-ments. The ligand and the corresponding metal complexes were screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activities. The metal complexes have shown marked activity against selected microorganisms than the...
