Tinospora cordifolia (TC), family Menispermaceae, a widely used herb in Ayurvedic formulations, is known for its therapeutic advantages in the treatment of fever, urinary problems, managing diabetes, metabolic disorders, dysentery, and enhancing immune function. However, its concurrent intake with commonly prescribed drugs raises alarms about potential herb-drug interactions. This review objectives to provide a guide to healthcare professionals (HCP) providing comprehensive knowledge of common pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic interactions of TC, focusing on its effects on cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzyme metabolisms, which is critical for the biotransformation of various commonly prescribed drugs. This review also highlighted the mechanism of interaction and clinical implications. By referring to this review, HCP can manage concurrent administration of TC and commonly prescribed medicines, ensuring education to the patient for their safety. Despite the frequent claims that herbal products are natural and safe, it is incorrect to undervalue clinically significant herb-drug interactions or ineffectiveness. Therefore, a careful clinical implication examination has been conducted to assess the effects of TC when used together with commonly prescribed...

Background: The study assesses lifestyle management of CAD in a tertiary care center, focusing on patients demographics and quality of life (QOL) among hypertensive female patients. Materials and Methods: This descriptive and interventional study was conducted. A total of 140 hypertensive women were selected using simple random sampling. Inclusion criteria included female patients with a documented history of hypertension. Participants were divided into two groups: an intervention group receiving lifestyle and dietary counseling and a control group receiving routine care. Results: The demographic analysis revealed that the majority of participants were married (92.86%), with 29.29% being illiterate and 27.14% having secondary-level education. Most participants were housewives (27.14%) or self-employed (23.57%). A family history of hypertension was present in 60.71% of cases. WHOQOL-BREF scores indicated moderate perceived quality of life, with the highest mean score in the physical domain (53.32%), followed by psychological (50.47%), social (49.15%), and environmental (49.15%) domains. Overall quality of life was reported at 51.63%. Multivariate analysis showed significant associations between education level (p < 0.001), occupation...

Alzheimer’s disease (AD), a progressive neurodegenerative disorder, is characterized by cognitive decline and memory impairment, often associated with oxidative stress, amyloid plaque accumulation, and neuroinflammation. In the quest for alternative therapeutic strategies, nanotechnology combined with phytochemistry offers a promising avenue. This study investigates the synthesis, characterization, and neuroprotective potential of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) synthesized using the aqueous leaf extract of Averrhoa carambola – a plant known for its antioxidant and medicinal properties. The green synthesis approach yielded stable, bio-functionalized AgNPs, as confirmed through UV–Vis spectroscopy, FTIR, SEM, and TEM analyses. In-vitro antioxidant assays demonstrated significant free radical scavenging activity of the synthesized nanoparticles. Furthermore, in-vivo experiments using an Alzheimer’s-induced murine model revealed that treatment with A. carambola-derived AgNPs improved cognitive performance, reduced oxidative biomarkers, and attenuated acetyl cholinesterase activity in the brain. Histopathological assessments also indicated a reduction in amyloid deposition and neuronal degeneration. These findings suggest that bioengineered AgNPs from Averrhoa carambola may serve as a novel, biocompatible nootropic agent with therapeutic potential in mitigating the pathophysiology of...

A simple, sensitive, specific, accurate reversed phase high performance liquid chromatographic method was developed for the simultaneous estimation of Metformin HCl and Myo-Inositol in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage form. RP-HPLC separation was achieved on C-18 (250mm x 4.6mm, 5µm) column. The mobile phase composed of Water: Acetonitrile: Methanol (50:30:20 % v/v/v) [HPLC Grade] at flow rate 1ml/min with UV detection at 228 nm. The mobile phase consists of Ph 4. The retention times of Myo-Inositol and Metformin HCl were found to be 4.627 min and 4.002 minutes respectively. Assay of Myo-inositol and Metformin Hydrochloride was found to be 99.86% and 99.82% respectively. This method can be successfully employed for simultaneous quantitative analysis of Metformin HCl and Myo-Inositol in bulk drugs and formulations. The results indicate that there is no interference from excipients for the proposed method, thus making the method simpler, less time consuming. Chromatography parameters were validated as per ICH guidelines and the method can be applicable for routine quantitative analysis of drugs in combined dosage...

Plants have rich deposits of phytochemical constituents, which are responsible for their medicinal uses. Different extraction methods like Soxhlet and microwave-assisted extractions are used to isolate these phytochemicals from plant materials. However, there is a lack of studies on a comprehensive comparison of phytochemical profiles obtained from different plant materials using Soxhlet and microwave-assisted extraction methods. Therefore, this research is carried out to investigate the presence and quantification of phytochemicals in Asteracantha longifolia and Moringa oleifera using Soxhlet extraction and Microwave-assistedextraction methods. The extraction process is carried out using solvents like ethanol, hydro-alcoholic solution, and distilled water. In both extraction methods, the highest yield is obtained for the stem and leaves of Moringa oleifera with distilled water. Soxhlet extraction with distilled water exhibited the highest extract yield potential i.e., 12.68% for Moringa oleifera (Stem and leaves) and 9.62% for Asteracantha longifolia (Root). In the microwave-assisted extraction method, Moringa oleifera (Stem and leaves) obtained the highest yield of 19.2%, 28.7%, and 33.2% with the solvent’s ethanol, hydro-alcoholic solution, and distilled water, respectively....
