An accurate, sensitive and precise RP-HPLC –Fluorescence method has been developed and validated for the estimation of Carvedilol Phosphate (CP) from bulk drug and Pharmaceutical Dosage form. The separation was achieved by a Brownlee analytical C18 column (250mm X 4.6mm, 5μm) in isocratic mode, with mobile phase comprises of Acetonitrile : Methanol : Buffer in proportion of 70:20:10v/v/v, buffer was 5mM Potassium Di-hydrogen Phosphate (pH 3.5 adjusted with Ortho Phosphoric Acid). The flow rate of mobile phase was 1.0ml/min and employing fluorescence detection with 280nm excitation and 340nm emission wavelengths. The retention time of Carvedilol Phosphate was 2.20 min.The calibration curve was found to be linear within the concentration range of 10ng/ml to 60ng/ml. The regression data for calibration curve shows good linear relationship with r2 = 0.990. The method was validated in accordance with the requirements of ICH guidelines. Moreover, the proposed analytical method was applied to monitor the formulation commercially...

The present study was designed to evaluate anti-hyperglycemic activity of simvastatin alone and the combination of sub therapeutic doses of simvastatin and glipizide. Hyperglycemia was induced experimentally in albino rats by subcutaneous injection of alloxan in a dose of 175 mg/kg body weight. After 72 hours of alloxan treatment, rats showing hyperglycemia (blood glucose level of 400 mg/dl and above) were included in the study. They were divided into four groups of 6 animals each (n=24). Oral administration of normal saline 0.5 ml, glipizide 2.5 mg/kg body weight, simvastatin 10 mg/kg body weight and sub therapeutic doses of both test (simvastatin 5 mg/kg body weight) and standard (glipizide 1.25 mg/kg body weight) drugs, was done respectively into each of the four groups for 30 consecutive days in order to assess the effect in terms of reduction in blood glucose level. Blood glucose was estimated on 0th, 10th, 20th, and 30th days of study in fixed time intervals. In the test group, there was a gradual fall in the blood...

In recent years, there is a tremendous increase of drug resistant pathogens, leading to the design and development of newer antitubercular agents. A series of 2-(substituted-phenyl)-1,3-benzoxazin-4-ones and 3-amino-2-(substituted-phenyl)quinazolin-4(3H)-ones were synthesized by the reaction of substituted benzoyl chloride with anthranilic acid and 2- (substituted phenyl)-1,3-benzoxazin-4-one with hydrazine hydrate in absolute alcohol respectively. The title compounds 2-substituted phenyl-3-(thiophen-2-ylmethyleneamino) quinazolin-4(3H)-ones and 2-(substituted phenyl)-3-(1-(furan-2-yl)ethylideneamino) quinazolin-4(3H)-ones were obtained by reacting 3-amino-2-(substituted phenyl) quinazolin-4(3H)-one with thiophene-2-carboxaldehyde and 2-acetyl furan respectively. The title compounds have been characterized by UV, IR, 1H-NMR and Mass spectra. The synthesized compounds have been evaluated for their antitubercular activity. Few of the compounds exhibited significant antitubercular while other compounds showed moderate...

Objectives: To assess the effect of unripe dried banana powder in experimentally induced gastric ulcers and effect on gastric acid secretion. To evaluate the antiulcerogenic effect of plantain banana of Gujarat as a part of evaluation of impact of biological variables on this activity. Results: Orally administered banana powder in the dose of 2gm/kg caused a statistically significant decrease in aspirin with pyloric ligation induced ulcers in rats without significantly decrease in secretary activity.Materials and methods: Total of 24 albino rats of either sex weighing between 150-250 gm were randomly divided into 4 groups. Each group has 6 no. of rats. The first group received placebo (distilled water), the second, third & forth group received 0.5gm/kg, 1gm/kg and 2mg/kg of banana powder respectively. Banana powder was given as suspension at fixed time (3 times in a day) for two days and animals were kept for fasting for another 48hrs. On 5th day, the animals were sacrificed after 7 hrs and stomach were removed for examination and gastric juice samples...

In our study, the sample (cheese) was selected for isolation and identification of Lactobacillus species as local probiotic isolate. The strain was subjected to microscopic and macroscopic investigations for probiotic selection. The world health organization criteria (WHO) were applied to all Lactobacillus species against E. coli, P. areoginosa, S. aerus, Chromobacterium, Serratia and A. flavus, antibiotic sensitivity test, acid and bile tolerance test, heamolytic activity. Antimicrobial compound called bacteriocin was partially purified. The Lactobacillus species was identified by 16S rRNA gene sequencing and specific catalase gene was also amplified. Data showed that Lactobacillus plantarum has a high inhibitory activity, tolerant to bile and acid, highly resistant to many antibiotics. Antimicrobial peptide was partially purified, characterized and bacteriocin produced by L. plantarum remained constant activity after heating at 121oC for 10 min. L. plantarum may be an alternative and promising way for eradicating many diseases. L. plantarum produces antimicrobial metabolites can give reasonable assurance of the control of pathogenic microorganisms. Increase the number of food-poisoning patients, the inhibition of the...
