Introduction: The elderly population has been defined as people who are older than 60 years. Essential Hypertension and Type 2 diabetes mellitus are rapidly emerging as public health problems among the geriatric population. WHO Core Drug Prescribing Indicators are used to measure Drug Utilization Patterns because it serve as the foundation for implementing changes to drug dispensing policies at the local and national levels. Irrational drug use can lead to adverse outcomes such as a decline in medication adherence, and the risk of drug-drug interactions, all of which can invariably lead to an increased risk of hospitalization, fatality rate, and healthcare costs. Objectives: To study the drug utilization patterns in Geriatric patients having Hypertension and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus using WHO core drug prescribing indicators. Methods: This is an Observational, Cross-sectional study, data was collected in the Case record form from Medicine OPD. Geriatric Patients with HTN, Type-2DM both HTN and Type 2 DM were included in the study. This study found out Drug prescribing patterns using WHO core...

The use of 3D printing in the pharmaceutical industry is a relatively recent development that has attracted a lot of attention since it has many advantages over more conventional pharmaceutical manufacturing methods. The design of an appropriate 3D printing system that can produce formulations with the desired drug release may be made possible by technological advancements. The ability of printing technology to develop potentially innovative oral dosage forms is a significant feature in the field of drug delivery. Additionally, it makes it possible for production processes to evolve quickly, safely, and affordably. As a result, this innovative technology is applied widely in the pharmaceutical industry. Also improving patient convenience through 3D printing will increase drug compliance. The pharmaceutical sectors is particularly interested in fused deposition modelling, powder-bed fusion and inject printing processes, which are briefly covered in this paper among other technical advances for creating 3D objects. This innovative technique has great potential for creating different delivery systems and offering polyp ills with individualized patient-compatible formulations. The potential for...

Freshwater fish scales are an abundant and versatile source of high-quality gelatin, with benefits including improved thermal stability, reduced risk of endotoxic shock and zoonotic disease transmission. This work outlines characteristics of gelatin extracted from fish scale and its applicability in 3D bioprinting. The extracted gelatin has molecular weight ranging from 250-280 kDa and is >99% pure, with total impurity content <20ppm. A high bloom strength of 250g was obtained, demonstrating higher gelling ability under external stimuli. Proximate study shows encouraging biological characteristics; it is non-cytotoxic and devoid of any possible microorganisms, suggesting that it is suitable for biological applications. The gelatin also demonstrated cell viability of 146%, suggesting a favourable effect on cell growth. In-vivo studies showed no skin irritation or abnormal reactions after 72h of observation, confirming its potential use for biocompatible scaffold. Further, the study focused on optimizing synthesis of cross-linked gelatin to create an ink suitable for 3D bioprinting. Critical analysis was done on the optimized concentration range (5-20%) for the creation of ink as...

Mutations in the HTT gene cause Huntington’s disease (HD), a hereditary neurological disorder. These mutations lead to the accumulation of the mutant huntingtin protein, which results in neuronal dysfunction and progressively worsening mental, cognitive, and physical symptoms. In Western populations, the prevalence of HD ranges from 10.6 to 13.7 cases per 100,000. Huntington’s disease does not yet have a cure; the main treatments for its symptoms are cognitive and psychiatric issues, chorea, psychosis, and dystonia. Among the therapeutic issues that need to be addressed are poor drug distribution across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and off-target effects caused by the BBB’s restricted permeability. Nanotechnology provides novel methods and insights that can improve therapy effectiveness, neuroprotection, and customized drug delivery. This review article discusses Huntington’s disease’s aetiology, epidemiology, pathophysiology, symptoms, current treatments, nanotherapy, and ongoing clinical studies. Despite numerous challenges, this review highlights the advancements in nanotechnology for HD therapy, the possibility of overcoming present barriers, improving patient outcomes, and the need for additional research to fully understand long-term health...

Background: Female infertility is a substantial but sometimes disregarded factor in infertility in couples. The problem is made more difficult to resolve by social shame, cultural hurdles, and a dearth of thorough data on female infertility. Aims and Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the current clinical practices, diagnostic approaches, and management strategies for female infertility among gynaecologists in India. Materials and Methods: A comprehensive survey was conducted during the 19th Annual Conference of the Indian Fertility Society (IFS), FERTIVISION-2023. A total of 1039 gynaecologists from various regions of India participated. The survey comprised 11 key questions on various aspects such as the percentage of female patients, common age, most common causes of infertility, prevalence of tubal factors, preferred ovulation induction drug in intrauterine insemination (IUI) cycles, the prevalence of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and the preferred methods of ovulation tracking. Results: Amongst the participants, 38.80% (n=435) reported that 11-15% of their female patients faced fertility-related issues, the majority of women (39.3%) were in the 25–29 year age group....
