The aim of the present research work is to isolate and characterize microbial strain using partial sequencing of 16S rRNA gene region of Amycolatopsis strain K1. Five Amycolatopsis strains from soil samples were collected from the effluent sediments from Jajmau, Kanpur in U.P. India, and it was confirmed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) that the isolates were different and not re-isolates of the same strain. Sequence analysis of the PCR-amplified 16S rRNA gene indicated that isolates showed maximum similarity to Saccharopolyspora endophytica strain YIM 61095. Amycolatopsis strain K1, which is a gram-positive bacterium, was cultured in a nutrient medium containing cholesterol at 37 °C for 24 h. A partial sequence of 16S rRNA gene was amplified by PCR and sequenced; the sequence data were submitted to NCBI. Amycolatopsis strain K1 partial sequence of 16S rRNA gene region resulted in 1366bp. The sequence data was submitted to NCBI, and the accession number obtained is SUB 6244430. The phylogenetic tree was constructed using the neighbor-joining through multiple sequence alignment program of Mega...

Acridine is a heterocyclic nucleus consisting of three fused rings heterocyclic moiety and a presence of Nitrogen in the ring structure. It is used in a large number of therapeutically agents for curing ailments like antimalarial, antiseptics, abortifacient, anticancer, and so on because of its adjuvant molecule attached to it. It possesses high pharmacological properties mainly with respect to cancer cells due to the proliferation of cells at the molecular level and acts as complexes with the peptides which bind at the molecular level for protection against the proliferation of cells. Acridine nucleus thus plays a potent role in combatting the silent and deadly disease for a better healthy nation. Acridine derivatives constitute a class of compounds that are being intensively studied as potential anticancer drugs. The most well-known acridine derivatives, their pharmacological properties, action mechanisms, and outlooks for practical application are described in this article. The unique qualities of acridines are primarily attractive due to the possibility of using them for the purpose-oriented designing of drugs. Thus, acridines...

Cyanobacteria are a well-established source of antibacterial compounds. However, the hot spring cyanobacterial strains are not properly explored for the purpose. The study investigates the antibacterial potential of the thermophilic oscillatoriales isolated from a hot spring of Garhwal Himalaya. Out of 48 endo-metabolite pools, extracted from 16 thermophilic cyanobacterial strains, tested for antibacterial activity against the bacterial pathogens, the DEEL (diethyl-ether extract of Leptolyngbya sp. HNBGU 002) was found to be active against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 with the minimum inhibitory concentration of 2.0 mg ml-1 and was able to disrupt the cell membrane function of bacteria as evidenced by an increase in membrane conductivity. In addition, DEEL was also found to be active against MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and VRE (vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium) strains. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis revealed the hydrocarbons and phenolics as the major compounds present in the DEEL. Besides, a triazolo-pyrimidine (TP) derivative, 1; 7-methyl-6-nitro[1,2,4] triazolo[1,5-a] pyrimidin-5-ol, was also detected in the active fraction. The findings suggest that the antibacterial activity of DEEL may be...

The most well-known widely used route of administration among all the routes that have been explored for the systemic delivery of drugs is oral drug delivery. Drugs can be delivered in a controlled pattern over a long period of time by the controlled or modified release drug delivery systems. The osmotic-controlled release oral delivery system, OROS, is an advanced drug delivery technology that uses osmotic pressure as the driving force to provide pharmacotherapy, usually once daily, in several therapeutic areas. This system is independent of the physiological factors of the gastrointestinal tract and can be utilized for systemic as well as targeted delivery of drugs. Osmotic pumps consist of a core coated with a semi-permeable membrane. As the core absorbs water, it expands in volume, which pushes the drug solution out through the delivery ports. It mostly consists of three things a semi-permeable membrane, a core, and a delivery orifice. This paper highlights the principle of osmosis, materials used for the fabrication of pumps, types of pumps, advantages, disadvantages,...

Murivenna is a taila (oil) which is widely used in South-Indian practices for external application in many of the localized conditions such as trauma, inflammation of joint, fracture, joint dislocation, wound, etc. Taila (Oil) is considered best for vatahara action. Vata is the main dosha involved in shopha (inflammation); this is a suitable taila (oil) that works in the treatment of shopha (inflammation). Materials and Methods: Murivenna was prepared as per the guidelines of Trivandrum Pharmacopeia and Ayurveda Formulary of India with genuine drugs. A later experimental study was conducted in acute and chronic inflammation using Carrageenan-induced paw edema and cotton pellet granuloma pouch method in acute and chronic inflammatory study, respectively. The data were analyzed statistically using a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by multiple comparison Dunnett’s test as a post hoc test. Result: The results indicate the presence of significant anti-inflammatory activity in the experimental model representing acute inflammation and non-significant effect in chronic inflammation. But there is a decrease in the granuloma formation, which suggests...
