This was a 24-week, randomized, open label study. Treatment-naive patients diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes mellitus were randomized into two groups, Group-1 (Vildagliptin 50 mg, twice dailyplus Metformin 500 mg, twice daily) and Group-2 (Teneligliptin 20 mg, once dailyplus Metformin 500 mg, twice daily). The primary objective was to compare fasting plasma blood glucose levels (FBG), 2-h post prandial blood glucose levels (2-h PPG) and HbA1c reduction from baseline in both the groups at the week 24 endpoint. From comparable baseline values HbA1c decreased in both treatment groups, to the greater extent with teneligliptin plus metformin combination therapy. Reductions in FPG were superior with teneligliptin plus metformin combination therapy [change from baseline -38.63 mg/dL] (p>0.05). Reductions in 2-h PPG were also superior with teneligliptin plus metformin combination therapy [change from baseline -37.85 mg/dL] (p>0.05). There was no incidence of hypoglycemia with either combination therapy. Efficacy and Safety of Teneligliptin over a period of 24 weeks was comparable to that of vildagliptin when given with stable doses of...

Nanoemulsion system is a promising vehicle due to the powerful ability to deliver the drug through the skin. Researchers have been conducted to prove its potential for the delivery of the drugs used in many skin disorders. Skin is the largest organ and acts as the first line of defense of our body. After a certain period of time, our skin loses tone and elasticity which is called aging. It is the result of programmed senescence and prolonged environmental injury to the skin. The aim of this review article is to provide information regarding the control of skin aging by the nanoemulsion drug delivery system. Novel carrier systems have a lot of advantages when compared to conventional formulations. There are various approaches to preventing skin aging. The most widely used age combating substances in cosmeceuticals are kinetin, Retinoids, sun filters, herbal ingredients (such as resveratrol, turmeric, and green tea), and antioxidants (such as alpha-tocopherol, ascorbic acid, coenzyme Q10 and lipoic acid). In recent years, these molecules have been formulated...

In present study, a successful attempt has been made to study the variation in electrochemical behavior of Furazolidone and Metronidazole simultaneously using Differential Pulse Voltammetry (DPV) technique. The effect of different pH (2-10) of Britton-Robinson Buffer on voltammogram using 1M KCl as a supporting electrolyte was studied. The optimum pH was found to be pH 4.25. Both Furazolidone and Metronidazole exhibited reduction cathodic peak at optimum pH with peak potential at -0.06 V for Furazolidone, and -0.22 V for Metronidazole vs. S.C.E. 0.1N CH3COOH was used as Solvent for the analysis. The variation in electrochemical behavior of Furazolidone and Metronidazole simultaneously at the optimized pH was studied by varying pulse amplitude and scan rate. The optimized pulse amplitude was found to be 50 mV, and the optimized scan rate was found to be 15 mV/s. This study can be used developing methods for simultaneous detection and quantification of Furazolidone and...

This study evaluates the effectiveness of corticosteroid fluticasone propionate, antihistaminic azelastine, and a combination of both as well as to find out the prognostic significance of absolute eosinophil count (AEC) in the topical treatment of allergic rhinitis. All cases presenting with symptoms of nasal allergy were included maintaining double-blind status. A total of 225 participants of groups I, II and III were treated with topical azelastine, fluticasone propionate and combination of both. The individual symptom score was recorded before and after treatment at the end of four weeks with the help of symptom evaluation scale. The effectiveness of group-specific drugs was evaluated by comparing individual and total symptom scores. AEC was repeated at the end of four weeks in all cases. After intervention the reduction of total symptom score (TSS) and AEC was 9.26 ± 0.01, 11.73 ± 0.54, 11.08 ± 1.61 and 205.59 ± 81.18, 176.05 ± 38.23, 195.75 ± 29.22 in group I, II and III respectively. Similarly for sneezing it was 0.21±0.41, 0.24 ± 0.43 and...

In this study, attempts were made to evaluate the anti-microbial activity of the galls of Quercus infectoria Olivier against oral bacteria causing dental caries. Various solvents systems were used to screen the potential of the extract on the clinically isolated organism and reference strains; Candida albicans MTCC 183, Streptococcus mutans MTCC 497, Lactobacillus acidophilus MTCC 10307 and Staphylococcus aureus MTCC 1144 using agar-well diffusion method. This was followed by determination of minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) by using two-fold serial microdilution methods at a concentration ranging between 0.02 mg/ml to 10 mg/ml. The MIC values against each bacterial species was found in the range of 0.16 to 0.31 mg/ml. Minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) was obtained by subculturing microtiter wells which showed no changes in color of the indicator after incubation. Among all tested bacteria, S. aureus was the most susceptible. The clinically isolated S. mutans was further analyzed for its ability to form biofilm on the surface of seashells. The biofilm reduction percent assay in microtitre wells was used to...
