Herbal drugs play an important role in the treatment of much illness. The plant has tremendous biological effects and applied in the different system of traditional medication for the treatment of various diseases. Marsilea minuta is one of the most popular foreground plants for aquariums that grows about two to three inches tall in shallow water and has attractive little markings on the tiny, variegated, green leaves. It is an aquatic or sub-aquatic fern used as a vegetable, has wide applications in traditional/folk medicine in India and Bangladesh. It is a member of the fern family. Synonyms of Marsilea minuta are Marsilea crenulata Desv, Marsilea diffusa A. Braun and Marsilea rotundata Wild. Marsilea minuta possesses many pharmacological activities such as antipyretic and analgesic, antidiabetic, antitussive, expectorant, antiamnesic, anti-aggressive, antimicrobial, hepatoprotective, antifertility, anti-tumor, antioxidant activity. This study was aimed to present an overview of traditional use, phytochemical and pharmacological investigations present in this...

Introduction: Measles virus (MeV) is still a common acute illness caused by viruses belonging to the family Paramyxoviridae and genus Morbillivirus. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of MeV in both vaccinated and unvaccinated children and consecutively, testing the efficacy of MeV vaccination among children in north India. Materials and Methods: A total of 323 blood samples were collected along with measles mumps rubella (MMR) vaccination history from children (0-15 years) manifesting fever and rashes. In serum samples, we employed the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to quantify the presence of IgM antibodies against measles virus infection. Results: Out of 323 serum samples 148 (45.8%) were found to be positive for MeV infections. Expectedly, In the vaccinated group we found the prevalence of MeV is 70 (47.3%), while in unvaccinated children occurrence of MeV infection is 78 (52.7%), showing a statistical significance between vaccination history and measles infection (P<0.0001*). In this study, 0-5 years old children have 93 (62.8%) MeV infection conversely, >5 years old age...

Asthma is a disease of the human respiratory system. The different extract of bark was obtained by successive extraction with petroleum ether, butanol, ethyl acetate and alcohol by Soxhlet. These extracts were evaluated for antiasthmatic activity by using in-vitro model, i.e., spasmolytic activity in isolated guinea pig lung strip using histamine for induction of bronchoconstriction in guinea pigs. The effect of S. extracts of the bark of the plant on isolated guinea pig lung strip was studied to know the mechanism by which the extracts exhibited muscle relaxant activity. The study showed the few extracts are effective against histamine-induced contraction. The result revealed that the antiasthmatic activity of extracts might be due to the presence of saponins and...

Background: Biofilm is a layer like aggregates of bacterial cells which are formed on biotic and abiotic surfaces. Pseudomonas aeruginosa plays an essential role in the aggregation of bacteria on biofilm formation. Quorum sensing and extracellular polysaccharide play a vital role in the biofilm formation in P. aeruginosa. The present study was aimed to investigate the anti-biofilm effect of lyophilized extracts of Chlorella. Materials and Methods: The lyophilized aqueous and ethanolic extracts of Chlorella were screened for anti-biofilm activity by MTT assay; microdilution and antibacterial activity were assessed by disc diffusion assay. GC-MS were used to determine the bioactive compound. Results: The lyophilized ethanolic extract of Chlorella showed concentration-dependent inhibition of up to 85% in biofilm, from a concentration of 2 mg/ml to 500 µg/ml by MTT assay. The antibiofilm activity of the significant ethanolic extract of chlorella was ascertained through a scanning electron microscope. The anti-bacterial activity showed a moderate to low inhibition around the disc showing no anti-bacterial activity. GC-MS analyses revealed the presence of 8 major...

Losartan potassium is used to treat hypertension, and it protects the kidneys from diabetic nephropathy. The drug has a short plasma half-life, inadequate bioavailability, removed rapidly from the blood circulation. These problems can be eliminated by formulating a novel dosage form of a drug in the form of floating oral in-situ gel. Present research performed on losartan potassium drug deals with the preparation and valuation of floating oral in-situ gel of the polymers used in-situ gel formation has many benefits like the sustained effect of drug substance and prolonged action in comparison to conventional drug delivery systems and good patient compliance, good stability and biocompatibility characteristics. The objective of this study was to develop an optimized in-situ oral gel of losartan potassium suitable to be administered by an oral route which upon exposure to physiological conditions changes to the gel phase. The aim of developing in-situ gel of losartan potassium was achieved through formulation designing of various formulations using various combinations of polymers and a cross-linking agent. Optimization of the prepared formulations...
