Chronic systemic diseases are diseases which require long term drug therapy. Parenteral controlled drug delivery system is often used to treat these diseases. Vesicular bodies like liposome are commonly used as Parenteral controlled depot formulation. It possess disadvantage that they are rapidly removed from body by phagocytosis because they are considered as hapten. So formulating a slow release depot formulation is a challenge for pharmaceutical scientist. Erythrocytes as they are derived from human body, they serves as a potential carrier for loading drugs intended for chronic systemic diseases that require long term therapy. Erythrocytes unlike other carrier possess biocompatibility, biodegradability and have long circulation half-lives. They act as slow release depot formulation by following a zero order kinetic drug release profile and without being attack by the complement system, provided the method adopted for loading should not cause any structural deformity or disturbance in lipid packing. This review will give an insight to those researchers who wish to work with erythrocyte for using it as a slow release depot...

A rapid, specific and accurate isocratic HPLC method was developed and validated for the assay of abacavir sulfate in pharmaceutical dosage forms. The assay involved an isocratic – elution of abacavir sulfate in Grace C18 column using mobile phase composition consists of (38:62 v/v) of methanol and 10ml of potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate. The wavelength of detection is 255nm.The method showed good linearity in the range of 10-50.0mg/mL. The runtime of the method is 8 mins. The proposed method can be used for routine quality control samples in industry in bulk and in finished dosage forms. In present study, a rapid specific precise and validated HPLC method for the quantitative estimation of abacavir sulfate in pharmaceutical dosage forms has been reported. The developed method can be applied to directly and easily to the analysis of the pharmaceutical tablet preparations. The percentage recoveries were near 100% for given methods. The method was completely validated and proven to be rugged. The excipients did not interfere in the analysis. The results showed that...

The present manuscript describes simple, sensitive, rapid, accurate, precise and economical dual wavelength spectrophotometric method for the simultaneous determination of Ambroxol Hydrochloride and Desloratadine Hydrochloride in combined tablet dosage form. The principle for dual wavelength method is “the absorbance difference between two points on the mixture spectra is directly proportional to the concentration of the component of interest”. The method was based on determination of Ambroxol Hydrochloride at the absorbance difference between 253.2 nm and 258.5 nm and Desloratadine Hydrochloride at the absorbance difference between 301.2 nm and 314 nm. The linearity was obtained in the concentration range of 5 – 75μg/ml for both Ambroxol Hydrochloride and Desloratadine Hydrochloride. The method was successfully applied to pharmaceutical dosage form because no interference from the tablet excipients was found. The suitability of these methods for the quantitative determination of Ambroxol Hydrochloride and Desloratadine Hydrochloride was proved by validation and recovery study. The proposed methods were found to be simple and sensitive for the routine quality control application of Ambroxol Hydrochloride and...

A total of thirty endophytic fungi were isolated from leaves and twigs of Eucalyptus globulus and Eucalyptus citriodora. Among thirty endophytic fungal isolates, four (P3MT1, P3MT2, OP4MT2 and P7ML2) are consistently producing compounds which are inhibiting Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Mycobacterium smegmatis and Candida albicans even after 10 generations tested under dual culture, well diffusion and disc diffusion methods. P3MT1 and OP4MT2 are inhibiting even a filamentous fungi Penicillium chrysogenum. The fungal isolate OP4MT2 showed highest zone of inhibition (20 mm) against Penicillium chrysogenum among two test fungi. The crude ethyl acetate extract of P3MT1 isolate showed highest zone of inhibition against Candida albicans (19 mm) by both well and disc diffusion method when compared to other fungal isolates. Another four fungal isolates (P3ML1, P6MT1, P5MT1 and P2MT1) from the same set of thirty isolates showed positive for the secretion of amylase, protease and laccase enzymes in agar plate method. Two endophytic fungal isolates (P6MT1 & P2MT1) among thirty are able to oxidize guaiacol indicating the presence of Lignin degrading enzymes....

Objectives: The study was designed to evaluate hepatoprotective effect of the ethanolic leaves extract of Jasminum grandiflorum (JG) in Isoniazid (INH) induced hepatotoxicity in wistar albino rats. Materials and methods: Mature leaves of JG were collected, authenticated and subjected to successive ethanolic extraction. Hepatic damage was induced in wistar rats by administering INH (54mg/kg, p.o.) once a daily for 30 days followed by administration of JG(200mg/kg, p.o.) 1h.prior to the administration of INH (54mg/kg, p.o.) once daily. Silymarin (50mg/kg. p. o) was used as standard for 30 days. Result: Elevated levels of Aspartate transaminase, Alanine transaminase, and Lipid profile following INH administration were significantly lowered by JGtreatment. Deposition of collagen was observed in liver and found to be less inJG treated animals; Pretreatment of rats with JG significantly decreases Lipid peroxidation (LPO) and increases the antioxidant activities. Conclusion: The study reveals the hepatoprotective activity of leaves extract of JGin isoniazid induced liver...
