The present study aimed to investigate the correlation between the total phenolic and flavonoid contents and in-vitro antioxidant activity of the Soxhlet-extracted leaves extracts (hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, methanol and aqueous) of Heliotropium indicum L, a medicinal weed. The preliminary phytochemical analysis was carried out in all five solvents using the standard methods of Harbonne. The phenols were quantified using a spectrophotometer by using Folin-Ciocalteau method by Singleton and Rossi and used catechol as standard. Flavonoids were quantified by using the aluminium chloride colorimetric method by Woisky and Salatino and used quercetin as standard. Soxhlet extracts of plant leave to scavenge DPPH radicals using Mensor et al., method and reducing power was studied using Gow-Chin et al. method. The qualitative phytochemical studies of the crude extracts showed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, saponins, terpenoids, glycosides, proteins, fats and oils, and carbohydrates. The aqueous extract had the highest total phenol contents (165.6 mgGAE/g), and the ethyl acetate extract had the highest flavonoid contents (28.01 mgQE/g) at a concentration of...

Objective: The aim of the present study was to find out the herbal drug which has potential antihistaminic properties. Studying the in-vitro antagonistic effect of crude extracts on isolated goat tracheal chain preparation for assessment of direct antihistaminic activity using two agonists like histamine and acetylcholine. Methods: The ethanolic extract of leaves of Hibiscus sabdariffa was found quite useful in showing antihistaminic activities when tested on an experimental isolated goat tracheal. They were divided into five groups. Results: PTEE exerted an antagonistic effect on histamine and acetylcholine-induced contraction (P < 0.05). Significance is seen at a dose of 2, 4, 10 mg/ml for histamine and acetylcholine Figure 6.2 and 6.4 in a dose-dependent manner. Histamine antagonistic effect seen as (70.12 ± 1.727, 56.09 ± 1.2, 48.17 ± 1.321) similarly the acetylcholine antagonistic effect seen as (85.60 ± 2.489, 60.20 ± 2.456, 44.00 ± 1.141). Conclusion: The present study a notable contraction produced by histamine at a dose 1.6µg/ml, as 82 mm taken as 100% while notable contraction was produced...

Diabetes Mellitus is the most common endocrine disorder, affecting a larger population of the world, which arises due to defective insulin secretion by beta cells in the pancreas or insulin resistance by peripheral tissues. As the disease progress, microvascular complications like nephropathy, neuropathy, retinopathy, and cardiovascular complications are observed, which the leading causes of death in diabetic patients. The drug treatment is required when the weight reduction, diet, and modification in lifestyle fails to maintain the normal blood glucose level. Though insulin and oral anti-diabetic drugs are clinically being used; the researchers have been focused on developing still better anti-diabetic drugs. There components like GLP-1, DPP-4, GPR119, GPR 40 and GPR 120, SGLT2, DGAT-1, 11 β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase, and Peroxisome proliferator influences/regulate the secretion, release, and uptake of insulin. The study of these targets would help to develop new anti diabetic...

The purpose of current research work has been made to formulate a gastro-retentive drug delivery system (GRDDS) of those drugs having a narrow absorption window or having good absorption at the proximal part of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) to deliver at stomach site and to improve the bioavailability of a drug. Gastro-retentive hydrogel tablet of Cefixime trihydrate was prepared by the direct compression method via using carbopol 940 and chitosan with different concentrations. Cefixime is a very poorly water-soluble drug after its oral administration so that it is slowly and incompletely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, which results within poor bioavailability i.e., 40-50%. Hydrogel was characterized concerning diverse parameters with mechanical strength, swelling ratio, in-vitro drug release, etc. The drug release from a combination of carbopol 940 and chitosan-based hydrogel showed for a prolonged period. A 32 full factorial design was utilized to optimize the tablet of cefixime trihydrate by selecting an amount of carbopol 940 and chitosan as independent variables and effects were observed on drug release and...

Quality by Design (QbD) is a systematic approach for the development of products and processes. Azilsartan Medoxomil is a competitive antagonist of the Angiotensin II Type 1 receptor. A precise and reproducible ultra-performance liquid chromatographic (UPLC) method was developed and validated for the estimation of Azilsartan Medoxomil from its marketed tablet dosage form applying Quality by Design approach. Eight experiments were conducted using the full factorial design in order to rationally examine the effects of stationary phase, buffer pH and organic phase concentration in primary screening followed by method optimization with variation in Column temperature and flow rate. Chromatographic separation of AZIL was achieved at 40 °C temperature using an Acquity UPLC BEH C18 (4.6mm × 2.1mm, 1.7μ) analytical column; the mobile phase consisted of Acetonitrile: phosphate buffer (pH 5.5, 0.02mM) (40:60, v/v) at a flow rate of 0.3 ml min-1. Azilsartan eluted with retention time (Rt value) 2.41 min. The linear regression analysis showed good linear relationship with a correlation coefficient of 0.999. The limit of detection and...
