The purpose of this study is to formulation and evaluation of floating and mucoadhesion microspheres of etodolac using ionic gelation method. The floating and mucoadhesion microspheres were studied for micromeritic properties were found to be within limits. The percentage yield of floating microsphere formulation F1 to F6 and mucoadhesive microspheres M1 to M3 were in the range of 77.14 ± 0.64 to 92.74 ± 0.74%. The in-vitro buoyancy of formulation F1 to F6, it was range from 71.96 ± 1.04 to 82.96 ± 1.07. Among all formulation, F6 was found to be highest in-vitro buoyancy 82.96 ± 1.07. The results also showed that the larger the particle size, the longer the floating time. The entrapment efficiency of floating microspheres F1 to F6 and mucoadhesive microspheres were in the range of 77.43 ± 2.72 to 98.11 ± 2.59. Formulations prepared with sodium alginate alone have shown maximum drug release at 12 h in the ratio of 1:3. Formulations prepared with sodium alginate along with HPMC K 4M retard the drug...

There are different types of conventional approaches are used for the synthesis of nanoparticles like physical and chemical techniques. But above approaches used for nanoparticles synthesis is not eco-friendly due to the production of toxic compounds during nanoparticles formation. Therefore, interest in the green synthesis of nanoparticles has been increased. The green synthesis of nanoparticles is an eco-friendly and convenient approach in which there are no adverse effects on the environment. The production of nanoparticles by green synthesis minimizes time and can obtain desired size and shape to increase the constancy of nanoparticles. The living organisms like plant, bacteria, algae, and fungi are known to be capable for production of metals nanoparticles through the intracellular or extracellular mode of biosynthesis. The main reason of involvement of plants, algae especially microorganisms in the production of metal nanoparticles are to develop, immaculate, harmless and environmentally protected production processes for nano synthesis to diminish environmental impact, minimize waste and boost energy efficiency. Therefore, the present review focus on methods concerned on the...

Periodontal disease is one of the most prevalent oral diseases is caused by the gram-negative bacterial infection of periodontal pocket identified by inflammation of subgingival plaque and degeneration of alveolar bones, teeth, dental cementum, and periodontal ligaments. 80% of American adult and more than 50% of the Indian community suffers from this chronic inflammatory infection depicting the severity of the Periodontitis disease. The available therapies are to minimize the bacterial infection and to regenerate the damage done by infection and inflammation. The therapies involve systemic therapy, conventional therapy, as well as local therapy. The localized drug delivery system using anti-bacterial drug Moxifloxacin is a fourth generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic drug used in periodontal infections. The present study aimed at designing and evaluating Eudragit-coated pectin microspheres for localized controlled release of drug to achieve a minimum inhibitory concentration in the periodontal pocket. The microspheres were prepared by emulsion dehydration technique using pectin as a polymer coated with Eudragit RS100. The formulation B2 were characterized by particle size, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM),...

The genus, Rubus is considered as highly potent plant crop and possesses economical, medicinal and ecological importance. Rubus plant species have been utilized inbreeding programme and has identified various pharmaceutical compounds. However, the taxonomy of the genus Rubus has been in a state of flux, because of the absence of comprehensive work and associated taxonomic disputes. Among the genus, most of them are referred to as ‘unresolved name” in the scientific database. The present study discussed the microscopic characterization of one unresolved species, ‘Rubus indicus’ and the examination were carried out by using their vegetative parts (root, stem and leaf). The systematic study of this high potent wild crop (R. indicus) has not been reported so far; hence, the resolved characters may be useful for proper species identification and for meaningful...

Mushrooms can be considered as a prolific resource for drugs as per previous literature surveys. Their constituent bioactive components are broadly classified such as phenols, flavonoids, triterpenoids, saponins. Whole mushrooms or mainly fruiting bodies extracts and compounds isolated from their mycelium are of immense pharmacological importance. Extraction employing suitable solvents leads to the isolation of various principle compounds. Pure compounds can also be isolated from natural material or can be synthesized chemically. 80-85% of all medicinal mushroom products are isolated from fruiting bodies. 15% of all products are obtained from mycelia. Cultivation of mushrooms requires minimal resources; therefore the development of cultivation farm helps for creating employment for various people in many parts of the country. Many kinds of literature have already reported the detailed chemical bioactive constituents of the extracts prepared from mushrooms via various extraction methods. These compounds are of immense therapeutic importance, and some of them have already become a part of clinical trials as an adjuvant therapy along with the conservative therapy applied for patients...
