Sickle cell anemia is a hemoglobin disorder, which is an autosomal recessive type affects millions of children of underprivileged and tribal area every year. Because of its devastating complications sickle cell is considered a major health problem in India and the entire world. Since many years, majority of the tribal population in the South Gujarat region are suffering from this lifelong disorder, which is incurable till date. The study to clinically evaluate T-AYU-HMTM, a novel herbo-mineral preparation has been performed in patients with sickle cell anemia. The prior ethics approval for the study was obtained. This study was a non-randomized and efficacy comparative type study in which folic acid used as standard. The results were analyzed by using mean ± SEM and one-way analysis of variance. Results from the study show the drug is effective in alleviating the clinical symptoms of patients. Results showed drug is able to sustain the level of red blood corpuscle. The drug also sustained hemoglobin level by reducing sickle hemoglobin balancing it with raising...

Nanobiotechnology in contemporary society is novel and has enhanced utility for size, distribution and morphology determination of various biomolecules. To prepare nano particles the used metals are gold, silver, mercury and platinum for significant applications in electronics, magnetics, optoelectronics and information storage. For our study we selected the sliver, since it is widely been used from ancient time for the treatment of bacteria, microbes, infections and serious burns as medicine or cosmetics and lotions in an emergence of new therapeutic agents. Plants are considered as environment friendly and efficient to produce in large-scale synthesis. So we selected the Trichodesma indicum for our study with combination of silver nitrate for silver ingredient in synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and their anti venom activity was studied. The properties of AgNPs of T. indicum were submitted to another journal had spherical particles of sizes 21 – 25 nm with active functional moieties of amino, carboxy, alcoholic and aromatics which contained the zeta potential of 30.9V. These properties of stem extract particles found...

A series of, 2-thioxo-4-thiazolidinone (rhodanine) and 2,4-thiazolidine-dinone derivatives were synthesized by reacting 4-thiazolidine-dione/rhodanine moieties with 2-(4-formylphenoxy)-N-substituted-phenyl-acetamide, in equimolar proportions. The authentication of synthesized compounds was done by FTIR, 1HNMR, and mass spectrophotometry. The derivatives, N-(phenyl) -2- {4-[ (4-oxo-2-thioxo-1, 3-thiazolidin-5-ylidene) methyl]phenoxy}acetamide and 2-{4-[(2,4-dioxo-1,3-thiazolidin-5-ylidene)-methyl]phenoxy}-N-(phenyl)-acetamide, were further screened for their anticancer properties against CEM cell lines. Cell viability was determined by trypan blue dye exclusion assay and cytotoxic effect of the compounds by MTT assay. The two derivatives, N-(phenyl)-2-{4-[(4-oxo-2-thioxo-1,3-thiazolidin-5-ylidene)methyl]phenoxy} acetamide and 2-{4-[(2,4-dioxo-1,3-thiazolidin-5-ylidene)-methyl]phenoxy}-N-(phenyl)-acetamide were found to be anti-proliferative in nature at 75 – 100 μM and 100 – 250 μM concentrations, respectively. Thus, it can be established that the rhodanine derivatives, N-(phenyl) -2- {4- [(4-oxo- 2- thioxo-1, 3-thiazolidin-5-ylidene) methyl]- phenoxy}acetamide and 2-{4-[(2,4-dioxo-1,3-thiazolidin-5-ylidene) methyl] phenoxy}-N-(phenyl)-acetamide have anti-proliferative property against leukemic cell lines (lymphoblastic leukemia) and can be further optimized to improve its efficacy and...

Traditional medicine and herbal formulations have been used by mankind for the cure and treatment of various diseases and disorders. Since time immemorable natural sources have been used as medicines by the humans. As per Indian System of medicine, Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani plants are formulated in various types of dosage forms like churna, gutika, asavas, aristasavlehas, etc. Various formulations with either Ayurvedic reference or as a household remedy or as a folklore medicine are commonly used. Balguti, Sitopaladi churn, Sootshekharmatra are few such traditional formulations which have been used commonly in various households. These formulations have immunomodulatory, expectorant and antacid properties respectively. Here in our studies we have reformulated these traditional formulations into new unit dosage forms. Considering the significance of patient compliance and market competition with modern dosage forms, present study involved phytochemical analysis of extracts used and their formulation of lozenges, jellies and dispersible tablets containing herbal ingredients. It was observed that, formulations were passing quality control tests. These formulations, being herbal would be with less side...

Nipah virus infection (NiV) is a viral infection caused by the Nipah virus. Nipah virus provides one of the most striking examples of an emerging virus and illustrates many of the pathways leading from a wildlife reservoir to human infections. Prior to 1998 there had been no reports of a disease of wildlife, domestic animals or humans that would subsequently be considered infection with Nipah virus. Despite the emergence of the related virus, Hendra, a number of years before Nipah virus, there was nothing to herald the sudden appearance of this virus, which in itself is surprising given the regularity of outbreaks since it appeared. However, the characterization of Hendra virus paved the way for the identification of the causative agent of disease in Malaysian pigs and farm workers and assisted in the recognition of the source of the infection and the pathway from the wildlife reservoir to humans. The symptoms start to appear within 3 – 14 days after exposure. The risk of exposure is high for hospital workers and caretakers...
