A rapid reverse phase high performance liquid chromatographic method was developed for the estimation of Manidipine dihydrochloride in its pure form as well as in tablet dosage forms. Chromatography was carried out on an phenomenex C18 column (250´4.6mm, 5 µm), using a mixture of acetonitrile and water (80: 20 v/v) with pH adjusted to 3.5 with ortho phosphoric acid (0.1 % v/v) as the mobile phase at a flow rate of 1.3 mL/min The detection wavelength is 230 nm. The retention time of the drug was 3.54 min. The method produced linear responses within concentration range of 25 to 125 µg/mL of Manidipine dihydrochloride. The method was found to be reproducible for analysis of the drug in tablet dosage...

Generic drugs are lower-cost versions of patent-expired original brand-name medications. According to guidelines of regulatory agencies of the Canada, US and European Union, a generic drug must be “identical, or bioequivalent to a brand name drug in dosage form, safety, strength, route of administration, quality, performance characteristics and intended use”. Bioequivalence is decreed when the ratio of the generic to the reference compound for the area-under-the-curve and maximum plasma concentration (Cmax) fall within a 0.80-1.25 range. The present study was to develop Olanzapine Tablets and compare pharmacokinetic profile of Zyprexa 10 mg film-coated tablets, Zyprexa Velotabs 10 mg orodispersible tablets and Olanzapine 10mg tablets. Multi media dissolution studies in 0.1N HCl, pH 4.5 acetate buffer and pH 6.8 phosphate buffer were carried out for Reference (Zyprexa Velotab 10 mg and Zyprexa 10 mg) and test product (i.e. Olanzapine 10mg). A single centre, open-label, single-dose, randomised, 3-way crossover bioequivalence study, performed under fasting conditions. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the test olanzapine (Treatment A) is...

In the present study, we have chosen a plant named Allium cepa Linn(Liliaceae) to evaluate its hepatoprotective activity in experimental animals. Different pharmacological activities are reported with different parts of this plant. Some of its medicinal properties reported are as stimulant, diuretic, anti-tubercular, anthelmintic, and used for various diseases like diabetes, skin diseases, rheumatism, asthma, nausea and constipation. From the literature we found that A. cepa has also been traditionally indicated for treatment of hepatic disorders. This prompt us to select bulb extracts of this plant for the study of hepatoprotective activity in paracetamol induced hepatotoxicity in experimental animals. Phytochemical screening of A. cepa revealed the presence of Saponins, carbohydrate, steroids, Flavonoids. The present study was made to evaluate the hepatoprotective effect of alcoholic and aqueous extracts of Allium cepa in CCl4 and paracetamol induced hepatic injury in experimental animals. Hepatoprotective activity of A. cepa was studied by estimating the serum levels of serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT), serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase (SGPT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), direct and total bilirubin. The...

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the possible anti-diabetic potential of Lagenaria siceraria pulp extract (LSPE) and Lagenaria siceraria seed extract (LSSE) against the pancreatic damage from alloxan-induced diabetes in rats related to diabetes mellitus. Lagenaria siceraria induced significant reduction in blood glucose and increasing of serum insulin, our data indicate that the level of glucose in the animals that were subjected with alloxan was 210 mg/dl comparing with normal 70 mg/dl, the level of blood glucose in diabetic group when subjected with Lagenaria siceraria extract decreased to 89-106.5 mg/dl. These findings suggest that LSPE and LSSE treatment exerts therapeutic protective effect in diabetes by preserving pancreatic cell integrity and significant activity extract, which supports traditional usage of the plant to prevent diabetic...

Herbal medicine has been used for many years by different cultures around the world for the treatment of diabetes. There has been an enormous interest in the development of alternative medicines for type 2 diabetes, specifically screening for phytochemicals with the ability to delay or prevent glucose absorption. The goal of the present study is to evaluate the invitro antidiabetic activity of Raphanus sativus ethanolic extract and fractions by α-glucosidase and α -amylase inhibitory activity. Raphanus sativusethanolic extract and fractions showed dose dependent inhibition of α-glucosidase and α -amylase enzyme and exhibited lower inhibitory activity than acarbose. The study revealed the antidiabetic potential and could be helpful to develop medicinal preparations and nutraceuticals and function foods for...
