The drug delivery technology landscape has become highly competitive and rapidly evolving. More and more developments in delivery systems are being integrated to optimize the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of the therapy. Conventional topical formulations are intended to work on the surface of the skin. Normally, upon application such formulations release their active ingredients and producing a highly concentrated layer of active ingredient that is quickly absorbed. Therefore, need exists for a system to increase the amount of time that an active ingredient is present either on skin surface as well as within the epidermis, at the same time, minimizing its transdermal penetration in the body. In recent times, microsponge delivery system (MDS) has been successively addressed for the controlled release of drugs onto the epidermis with assurance that the drug remains chiefly localized and does not enter the systemic circulation in major amounts. Drug loaded microsponge consist of microporous beads, typically 10-25 μm in diameter that possess a versatility to entrap wide range of active agents. Microsponge Systems are...

Losartan potassium is an angiotention receptor antagonist, used in the management of hypertension. The objectiveof the proposed research work is to prepare and evaluate the mouth dissolving/disintegrating tablets (MDTs) of losartan Potassium, which avoid the first-pass metabolism, improved the dissolution rate and enhance the bioavailability. Mouth dissolving tablets (MDTs) were prepared by direct compression method by using combination of superdisintegrant like Ac-Di-Sol and Polyplasdone-xl (1%,2%,3%&4%) and evaluated for physico-chemical evaluation parameter such as hardness, friability, weight variation, drug content uniformity, water absorption ratio, wetting time, in-vitro and in-vivo disintegration time, in-vitro dissolution studies. The control tablet (without superdisintegrant) was formulated and evaluated. The twelve formulations, B1to B8 were formulated and among these formulations, B8 was optimized. The hardness, friability, weight variation and drug content were found to be within pharmacopeias limits. The water absorption ratio, wetting time, in-vitro and in-vivo disintegration time of optimized formulation, B8 was found to be 86.1%, 8secs, 18secs and 25secs respectively. The formulation, B8 was considered to best formulation, which released up to 99.21%...

The gold standard in pharmaceutical industry is the oral delivery because it is the easiest, safest, economical and convenient method for the drug delivery. Mouth dissolving tablets have becomes the most demanding application during last decades and in the pharmaceutical industry this field has become a rapidly area. Mouth dissolving tablets during insertion in the mouth should have to dissolve or disintegrate in the mouth within 15sec to 3 minutes without the help or need of any drinking agent like water. These mouth dissolving tablets can be given anytime, anywhere to anyone who needs this without the presence of water and these will show the effective action in few...

Mitochondria are involved in different physiological and pathological processes that are crucial for tumor cell physiology, growth and survival and its dysfunction leads to many human abnormalities, including cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, autoimmune disorders and cancer. The present review is focused on the different experimental and therapeutic cancer strategies addressed to either target mitochondria directly, or use mitochondria as mediators of apoptosis, although its total molecular mechanism has not been elucidated. Therefore, the role of mitochondria in the etiology and progression of several function and explore potential therapeutic benefits of targeting mitochondria in the disease processes. Newly evolving advances in disease diagnostics and therapy will further facilitate future growth in the field of mitochondrian biology, where there is a dire need for sensitive and more affordable diagnostic tools and an urgency to develop effective therapies and identify reliable drug to predict accurately the response to a cancer therapy. These approaches to treat mitochondrial dysfunction rationally could lead to selective protection of cells in different tissues and various disease states. To...

Diospyros melanoxylon is a medium-sized tree or shrub which belongs to the family Ebenaceae. The whole plant is medicinally important and cures several diseases. Therefore, in this context the detailed pharmacognostic study of various parts like leaf, stem, petiole and root has been carried out with the aim to establish its Pharmacognostical standards. The parameters selected were microscopical studies, proximate analysis, fluorescence analysis and preliminary phytochemical screening. The microscopical studies of leaf, stem and root revealed the presence of branched trichomes, spiral xylem vessel. In physicochemical evaluation the ash values and extractive values were studied. Fluorescence analysis performed showed the wide range of fluorescence colors for the crude powder. The Diospyros melanoxylon powder was successively extracted with hexane, benzene, chloroform, ethylacetate, ethanol and water for the identification of the best solvent. Preliminary phytochemical screening was carried out for all the extracts and maximum chemical constituents were observed in the ethanolic...
