The majority of current drug delivery systems are existed as water-insoluble drug delivery systems but rarely water-soluble drug delivery systems. Low aqueous solubility is a common problem in pharmaceutical development. About 40% of commercialized drugs and as many as 90% of drugs in the discovery are low aqueous soluble. When given through traditional dosage forms, such drugs fail to be soluble and have limited bioavailability, so they tend to show limited therapeutic effect and often fail. Various methods to solubilize drugs usually involve a combination of pH modifiers, salt forms, co-solvent systems, surfactants, or complexation. A complex drug system is generally a complex system incorporated with API and compatible excipients to produce the desired effect. Complex drug systems are simply referred to as uncommon products that were not typical tablets. However, with the rise of insoluble API biologics, complex drug systems are quickly gaining importance. Most used complexes include phosphor lipid complex, chitosan complex, cyclodextrins complex, phosphatidylcholine complex. Complex drug systems are employed in various areas for treating various...

Alzheimer’s is a degenerative brain disease associated with memory depletion and mild cognitive dysfunction, leading to dementia. Today’s world attempts to treat various ailments have increased with medical advancements. There is still considerable research into medications capable of preventing or at least effectively altering the trajectory of AD. Medicinal plants play a major role in Alzheimer’s and memory loss control. Ayurveda, homeopathy, Siddha & Unani medicine systems are the main conventional therapeutic approaches. In animal studies, AD caused by chemical compounds may be helpful in deeper understanding the mechanism of disease and AD treatment. The anticholinergic drug Scopolamine induces amnesia in rodents. In the present study, the efficacy of an Extract of Hylocereus undatus (HUFE) was evaluated against scopolamine-induced Alzheimer in the Wistar albino rat. Donepezil at a dose of 2.5 mg/kg, HUFE was given in rat at a dose of 100 mg/kg body weight, 200 mg/kg body weight, and 300 mg/kg body weight. The anti-Alzheimer activity was assessed by Morris water maze, novel object recognition test, and Y-maze. And...

In this present work, BCS class II Candesartan celexitil, as an angiotensin receptor blocker used mainly for the treatment of high blood pressure and congestive heart failure, was successfully loaded in the solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) by using hot high-speed homogenization method. The SLN formulations were prepared and optimized by Box Benhken design study. The SLN was characterized by Nanophox size analyzer and Delsa nano C zetameter. The SLN was also evaluated for particle size, zeta potential, entrapment efficiency, drug loading, surface morphology, and in-vitro dissolution study. The average particle size, zeta potential, percentage entrapment efficiency, and drug loading were found to be 177nm, -8.23 mV, 95.72 %, and 8.23 %, respectively. The dissolution study of SLN showed 92.07 % released in six hours compared to 46.89% release from the pure drug, which indicates a significant improvement in the bioavailability. The release of the drug from SLN showed zero-order kinetics. The stability study was also carried out and found to be stable after three...

Objectives: To assess the risk factors, opportunistic infections (OI’s), prescribing patterns along with ADRs, medication adherence, and quality of life (QoL) among HIV patients. Methods: This is an Ambi-directional cohort study conducted at the Government hospital, Bhimavaram, for 6 months from July 2019 to December 2019, including 201 HIV patients’ data. The data were analyzed using GraphPad Prism 8.3.0. Descriptive statistics & paired t-test were employed to assess risk factors, OIs, prescribing patterns, and QoL, respectively. Results: Out of 201 patients. Heterosexuality (96%) was found to be a predominant risk factor in this study. Between type-1 and type 2 HIV patients, Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate/ Lamivudine & Efavirenz (TLE) and Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate/ Lamivudine/ Lopinavir/ Ritonavir (TL/ATV/r) were the first-line and second-line therapies respectively in type-1 patients; however, TL/LPV/r was reserved for type 2 individuals. Among 201 patients, 55 patients were reported with 60 ADR’s and the predominant ADR was found to be rashes (36%). Approximately 76% were reported with a history of OI’s, the most prevalent being TB (39%)....

The presentation of this work aims to update professionals on issues associated with selecting the film former in the film coating process. Film coating finds applicability in a diverse field that may be for conventional (immediate) release and modified-release intended for enteric/ delayed-release or barrier membrane controlled release (extended-release). In the pharmaceutical field, film coating of the substrate is achieved by spraying the coating material in liquid medium onto them. The formulation of coating material is a solution or dispersion of film-forming polymers and excipients in aqueous or organic solvents. Film formers are the chief amongst the component of coating formulation that delineates the functional properties of the film-coated pharmaceutical along with other factors like additives, process, equipment, technology and many others. Polymers used as film former are available in different grades, determined by their molecular weight and viscosity. Their glass transition temperature (Tg), along with the grade of polymer, influences the film coating process along with the functional properties of the film coat. Summarised information on the technical...
