The uses of plant-based products for disease prevention and treatment become increasingly popular in many societies. Plants are considered one of the major sources for many bioactive groups such as alkaloids. The purpose of this study was to determine the rate of alkaloids and investigate antibacterial activity of alkaloid fraction of seeds and leaves from plant, genus Swietenia of S. macrophylla (Familay: Maliaceae) against four pathogenic bacteria namely; Gram-positive: Staphylococcus aureus ATCC1026 and Gram-negative: Escherichia coli ATCC10536, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC15442, and Salmonella typhimurium ATCC14038 based on inhibition zones. For the antibacterial bioassay, two concentrations, 50 and 100 mg/mL of seeds and leaves extracts were prepared and tested by disc diffusion method. The obtained results showed that the plant parts contain various levels of alkaloids, and with appreciable level of antibacterial activity against all tested microorganisms. The seeds extract showed high activity at a concentration of 100 mg/mL compared with leaves at the same concentration, especially against Gram-positive strain. The inhibition zones ranged from 3 to 21 mm for all...

A drug should be available in accessible in disintegrated state before producing its therapeutic effect however; in current market more than 40%, drugs are poorly soluble in water. In view of their low aqueous solubility, those new chemical entities fail to reach market in spite of revealing potential pharmacodynamics activities. Poorly aqueous soluble drugs are connected with moderate drug absorption leading inevitably to insufficient and variable bioavailability. Consequently, different methodologies have been grasped for solubility and dissolution enhancement of poorly water-soluble drugs thus bioavailability. Solubility assumes a paramount part in attaining the desired plasma drug concentration. In this review article, different techniques like solid dispersion using hot stage extrusion, freeze-drying, spray drying, and hot melt extrusion also nano suspensions, dried emulsions were discussed for solubility and dissolution rate improvement of BCS class II antifungal drug Itraconazole. Amongst various method described in this review, solid dispersion was found to be most preferred technique by researcher as it provide ease in preparation and efficiency in terms of resolving the solubility and dissolution...

Cancer is one of the major threats to human health that cause considerable suffering and economic loss worldwide. The search for natural compounds which prevent cancer has upsurge with the mounting evidence that many types of cancer are caused or triggered by factors relating to our lifestyle. Chemopreventive agents include all those agents which can either prevent cancer or slow down the growth of malignant lesions. The present experiment was designed to explore the chemoprotective and antioxidative potential of Flaxseed oil (FSO) on 7, 12-dimethylbenz(a)anthracene (100 μg/100 μl of acetone) and croton oil (1% in acetone/three times a week) induced skin carcinogenesis in mammals. FSO administration to mice, by oral gavage at a dose of 50µl/animal/day for 17 weeks at peri-post initiation stage (i.e. started from 7 days before the experiment & continued till completion of experiment), reduced the tumor burden, tumor multiplicity, tumor yield, cumulative number of papillomas and percent tumor incidence while increased the average latent period when compared to control group. The lipid per oxidation levels...

This study investigated the effects of arsenic on radish in the pot (green house experiment), result revealed that length, FW and DW of plant (EDP and leaf) was significantly (P < 0.05) affected at higher concentration of As (≥40ppm) treatment. Chl-a and Chl-b was significantly affected at >40ppm As treated plant compared with C*. TSS and Proline content in plant showed, increasing trend at increasing concentration of As treated plant. Ca, P and K content in plant was more after 30 DAS followed by 60DAS, P was significantly (P<0.05) more affected from 10 to 80ppm of As treated plant as compared to Ca and K. APX and CAT activities of As treated plant leaf showed increasing trends from C* and DAS. About 70 µg of As /g of DW of EDP accumulate after 60DAS at ≥ 40 to 80ppm, it was more than leaf. As uptake by the EDP was significantly more in 60DAS (R² = 0.810) than 30DAS (R² = 0.753) as compared with C*. BCFs was >1...

The exposure to vibrations generated in oscillating/vibratory platform produces whole body vibration (WBV) exercises. The effect of the WBV in the concentrations of some biomarkers and his association between some substances has been investigated. Natural products have been used by the humans as food source and as medications. Coriandrum sativum (CS) is used for the treatment of diabetes and gastrointestinal complications. The aim of this study was evaluate if the WBV modify the effect of a CS on the biodistribution of Na99mTcO4 and in some biomarkers in Wistar rats. Rats were divided in: control group (CON) received of 0.9%NaCl solution (saline); treated group with 1.0 mL CS 8g/mL (COR); PLA were submitted to WBV (12 Hz) and also received 1.0 mL of saline; COR + PLA received 1.0 mL CS 8g/mL and were submitted to WBV. Na99mTcO4 was administrated via ocular plexus. After 10 min, sample of blood obtained from by cardiac puncture was used for biochemical analysis and organs isolated to determine %ATI/g. %ATI/g had a significant (p<0.05)...
