Phytochemicals are the bioactive components present at micro level in our daily diet, especially the phenolic antioxidants, contribute to the prevention of cardiovascular and other degenerative diseases. Moringa oleifera (MO) leaves polyphenols effect on the activity of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl Coenzyme A (HMG CoA) reductase was studied using a spectrophotometric assay based on the stoichiometric formation of coenzyme A (SH) during the reduction of microsomal HMG CoA to mevalonate at different concentrations (200- 400 µg). Activity of HMG- CoA reductase was inhibited by MO polyphenols significantly (p<0.05) at the concentrations studied. The Coenzyme A released at the end of assay in the control was higher (18.87±0.12 n Moles) significantly than the MO polyphenol extract, which was dose dependent (14.69±0.07 to 10.26±0.33 n Moles). The results reveal the potency of the MO polyphenols in inhibiting the HMG- CoA reductase. Hence, the MO polyphenols can be explored for its role as a cholesterol lowering...

Transdermal drug delivery system (TDDS) in comparison to conventional system offers sustained drug release as well as decrease the intensity of action and decrease in the side effects associated with conventional therapy. Presently only about 40 products of more than 20 drug molecules are available in market. The barrier property of the stratum corneum is the main obstructer in the release of drug from the transdermal patch. Various approaches to overcome this barrier function of skin have been broadly studied. Innovations in technologies continue to occur at a positive rate, making the technology a productive and exciting area of innovation, research and product development. In this review, various new development in the field of TDDS are included which are intended to be a need base system. In this review, we have summarized various physical and chemical approaches for transdermal flux enhancement as well as the application of electricity, ultrasound, microneedle and chemical...

The aim of the present study was to investigate the applicability of liquisolid technique in improving the dissolution properties of Valsartan in a solid dosage form. This study was designed to optimize and evaluate the effects of different formulation variables: amount of liquid vehicle (X1), ratio of carrier to coating material(X2) and amount of magnesium oxide(X3) on angle of repose (Y1), hardness(Y2) and in-vitro release(Y3) of formulation using three level three factor Box-Behnken statistical design. The non-linear quadratic model generated by the design is of the form: Y = A0 + A1X1 + A2X2 + A3X3 + A4X1X2 + A5X2X3 + A6X1X3 + A7X12 + A8X22 +A9X32 + E, where Y is the measured response associated with each factor level combination. Contour and response surface plots were depicted based on the equation given by the model. The optimization procedure generated the maximum overall desirability value. The optimized formula yields observed values close to the predicted values. Furthermore, the commonly used carrier and coating materials in liquisolid systems Avicel® and...

Over the past decades, herbal medicine has become a thing of global significance with medicinal and economic implications. Wide spread use of herbs throughout the globe has raised serious concerns over its quality, safety, and efficacy. Our investigation showed that these investigated medicinal plants could prevent ulcer in a dose-dependent manner. Histological studies revealed that these medicinal plants did not show any acute toxicity. Preliminary photochemical screening of this medicinal plant identified the presence of important secondary metabolites like flavonoids and tannins. A peptic ulcer in the stomach is called a gastric ulcer. One that is in the duodenum is called a duodenal ulcer. Peptic ulcers happen when the acids that help you digest food damage the walls of the stomach or duodenum. The most common cause is infection with a bacterium called Helicobacter pylori. Another cause is the long-term use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines (NSAIDs) such as aspirin and ibuprofen. Stress and spicy foods do not cause ulcers, but can make them worse. As many as 70-90% of...
