Diabetes is a multifaceted metabolic disorder that impacts individuals worldwide, and delayed wound recovery is a prevalent symptom of diabetes. There is a plethora of methods available now to heal these wounds. Since, chronic inflammation and untreated stages may lead to amputation and death. So, their consequences may cause a patient’s financial strain. However, this review focuses on the most recent formulation, such as miRNA, biomarkers, exosomes, leucine-rich glycoprotein, neutrophils, pro-inflammatory (M1) macrophages, pro-remodeling (M2) macrophages, sustained activation of neutrophils, endothelial progenitor cells, Scaffold, biofilms, carriers, fibers, mats, and antibiotic management for diabetic wound treatment. We discussed their roles as well as therapy plans for managing diabetic wounds with the latest...

Background: Intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) is an innovative method for treating heavily calcified coronary and peripheral lesions. It employs acoustic shock waves to create microfractures in calcified plaques, facilitating stent placement and improving vessel compliance. Objective: To assess the efficacy, safety, and potential applications of IVL in hypertensive patients with calcified coronary lesions, while exploring its diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities. Methods: A thorough review of the latest advancements and studies on IVL, with a focus on its use in hypertensive patients. Key studies, including the Disrupt CAD series, were analyzed for procedural success, safety, and clinical outcomes. The integration of IVL with imaging techniques such as intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) was also investigated. Results: IVL has shown high procedural success rates and minimal complications in treating calcified coronary and peripheral lesions. Studies have reported significant luminal gain post-IVL, with minimal residual stenosis. The Disrupt CAD studies confirmed the safety and efficacy of IVL, with minimal adverse events and substantial calcium fracture in treated lesions. IVL’s effectiveness in managing specific clinically significant...

Dyslipidemia is a known risk factor for Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Diseases (ASCVD). Statins are first choice drug for the treatment of dyslipidemia. The FDA advises a low starting dose of rosuvastatin at 5 mg/day in Asians. The present study is a randomized, open labelled study done at Victoria Hospital, Bangalore to compare the efficacy and safety of rosuvastatin 5mg versus atorvastatin 20mg in patients with dyslipidemia. A total of 60 treatment naïve adult patients with dyslipidemia were randomized into two arms of 30 each in 1:1 ratio to receive either rosuvastatin 5mg or atorvastatin 20mg. Lipid profiles at baseline and at 6th week follow-up visit was recorded. Efficacy was assessed by mean change in lipid parameters at the end of 6 weeks and safety by recording the number and severity of adverse events reported by the patient at any time during the study. Among the 60 patients the mean difference at 6th week from baseline for Total cholesterol, LDL, HDL and Triglyceride for the rosuvastatin and atorvastatin group were (mg/dl)...

We present the case of a 25-year-old unmarried male driver diagnosed with recurrent genital herpes (RGH) and genital warts, associated with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM). The patient reported a history of unprotected sexual intercourse with a commercial sex worker (CSW) four months prior. He developed multiple painful genital erosions and verrucous growths on the penile shaft. Laboratory investigations confirmed HSV-2 and HPV infection. The patient was treated with oral acyclovir 800 mg four times daily for 7 days for RGH and topical imiquimod 5% cream thrice weekly for genital warts. The treatment resulted in complete resolution of symptoms without recurrence. This case highlights the importance of early diagnosis, targeted therapy, and preventive counseling in managing STIs, especially in immunocompromised individuals like diabetic patients. Additionally, it underscores the need for safe sexual practices, routine STI screening, and HPV vaccination to reduce disease burden and complications in high-risk...

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a prevalent endocrine disorder affecting women of reproductive age. It is characterized by symptoms such as elevated androgen levels, the presence of multiple cysts on the ovaries, irregular or absent ovulation and various metabolic disturbances. Women with PCOS commonly experience metabolic dysfunction, obesity and infertility. They also face a higher risk of pregnancy complications and long-term cardiovascular disease. About 75% of individuals with PCOS have Insulin Resistance (IR). IR can trigger symptoms of PCOS, but hyperandrogenemia related to PCOS can also worsen IR. This review aims to summarize the current treatment options for managing IR in PCOS and to prevent the long-term complications associated with it. Current treatment strategies include lifestyle modifications, which remain foundational for improving metabolic health, alongside pharmacological interventions such as Metformin, Thiazolidinediones, GLP-1 Receptor Agonists (GLP-1 RA) and SGLT-2 (Sodium Glucose Co-transport) inhibitors. These established therapies offer significant benefits in managing IR and associated symptoms. Additionally, Inositol has gained recognition for its role in supporting metabolic and reproductive outcomes. Emerging...
