Background: Childbirth is a multi-stage process, and the postpartum period holds significant implications for maternal health. The third stage of labour, when the placenta detaches, is the most dangerous for women because of excessive bleeding (postpartum hemorrhage or PPH). This is often caused by the uterus not contracting properly (uterine atony). Thus, there’s a well-established practice called active management of the third stage that helps to prevent these complications. Objectives: To assess the efficacy and safety of carboprost in active management of third stage of labour. Methodology: Sixty parturient were enrolled in a study. Following the delivery of the baby’s anterior shoulder, these parturient received a single intramuscular injection of 125 microgram of carboprost. The primary outcomes assessed were the duration of the third stage of labour, the amount of blood loss, and the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) Results: This study group experienced an average third stage of labor duration of 5.25 ± 1.73 minutes, accompanied by an average blood loss of 157.41 ± 49.43 ml and the...

After giving proper counselling to the patients, it was clearly evident that there will be improvement in adherence (76.4%). The subjects (47.2%, n=68) were found to be highly satisfied with the treatment provided to them by the physician. The PFT values after adherence were found to be 84.118±12.647. The most common inhaler device was found to be (61.1%, n=88). The mean drug cost for Budesonide/Formoterol was found to be less compared to...

Background: The study assesses pharmacological management of CAD in a tertiary care center, focusing on medication adherence and quality of life (QOL) among hypertensive female patients. Materials and Methods: A prospective observational study conducted at LPS Institute of Cardiology, GSVM Medical College, Kanpur, included 140 diagnosed CAD patients between September 2021 to November 2022. Results: Among 140 participants, 55 patients (39.3%) presented with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS): 35 with STEMI and 20 with NSTEMI/UA. The remaining 85 patients had stable angina, underwent diagnostic coronary angiography, or were admitted for post-intervention follow-up, indicating a broader representation of CAD spectrum in clinical settings. The age group 61–70 years was most affected (32.86%). Hypertension (64.3%), diabetes (48.6%), and smoking (29.3%) were the major risk factors. Statins (94.29%), clopidogrel (89.29%), aspirin (86.43%), beta-blockers (60%), and ACE inhibitors (53.57%) were the most prescribed medications. The analysis of QOL domains showed a positive association between medication adherence and physical, psychological, social, and environmental well-being. Conclusion: Adherence to evidence-based pharmacological therapy was high, but underutilization of...

The gonadal arteries variations are commonly seen in males on right side however there are few instances where there is variation in ovarian arteries seen in females which could be of importance. Aim of the Study: To re-evaluate the origin and courses of gonadal arteries in human cadavers and explain the developmental anatomy and its clinical significance. Materials and Methods: During routine educational dissection of 24 cadavers in the Department of Anatomy, K.A.P.V. Government Medical College, Trichy, the origin and course of gonadal arteries were observed. I found the variants in 2 female cadavers aged over 60 years. Results: The present study showed variation in the origin of ovarian arteries in 2 female cadavers (8.33%) out of 24 cadavers. I observed, a rare anatomical variant of left ovarian arteries were found, originating from the left accessory renal arteries, just below and behind the left...
