SCHIFF BASE: A REVIEW OF PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES

Schiff bases are generally aldehyde or ketone-like compounds in which an imine or azomethine group replaces the carbonyl group. They are versatile and exhibit a broad range of pharmacological activities as antimicrobial, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and anticonvulsant. Anti-cancer activity has been used widely for industrial purposes or therapeutic use. Thus, Schiff bases are highly desir...

AN UPDATED STATUS OF ALANINE RACEMASE INHIBITORS: A REVIEW

Enzyme Alanine racemase is well known for performing a predominating role in mycobacterium cell wall synthesis. D-alanine provided by Alanine racemase serves as a peptidoglycan precursor, utterly vital for maintaining the growth and integrity of the cell wall. The lipid-rich mycobacterium cell wall is prevalent amidst prokaryotes with immense potential of becoming a therapeutic target for new drug...

MOLECULAR DOCKING STUDY OF HEMAGGLUTININ PROTEIN OF INFLUENZA A VIRUS TO DEVELOP A NOVEL ANTI-INFLUENZA DRUG

The Hemagglutinin (HA) protein of the Influenza virus plays a vital role in viral replication. In this study, numerous small molecules were screened systematically against the HA protein to find a compound that can bind to it selectively. The HA protein’s three-dimensional crystal structure was obtained from RCSB PDB and inputted into the FTMap Web Tool to identify the best possible drug gable h...

HERBAL BASED ANTI-MICROBIAL BOOSTER FOR THE TREATMENT OF RESISTANT MYCOBACTERIUM TUBERCULOSIS

Persistent Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) attributable to resistant strains has increased the burden leading to poor quality of life to the patients. Drugs of herbal origin have been identified as potential sources of new anti-tubercular agents for the treatment of this disease and emerging resistant strains of the bacterium. In this research, therefore, five herbs/plants that have been indicate...

DIURETIC ACTIVITY OF ETHANOLIC EXTRACT OF IMPERATA CYLINDRICAL (L.) P. BEAUV. (POACEAE) LEAVES ON RAT

This work aimed to evaluate the diuretic activity of Imperata cylindrica (Poaceae) leaves on rat. The extract was administered orally at doses 100, 200 and 400 mg/kg. The 24h urine volume and its pH were measured, natriuresis and kaliuresis were dosed. The results show that I. cylindrica increases diuresis, natriuresis and kaliuresis, but doesn’t affect urine pH. Diuresis of 24 h urine increases...

SCREENING OF PGPR TRAITS AND MONOCROTOPHOS PESTICIDE DEGRADATION PROPERTIES OF ACTINOBACTERIAL ISOLATES

Bioremediation of organic compounds and heavy metals has been recognized to be a successful and effective technique in rhizoremediation of soil toxicity using the beneficial microbes which produce different metabolites and enzymes to degrade the toxic compounds/ pesticides available in the soil. In the present study, actinobacterial isolates were explored and identified for bioremediation of soil ...
